I didn't realize there was an expectation that I "prove" anything...
Just that I provide a logical and rational basis for my viewpoints, and sources where appropriate.

You should try any of the above sometime rather than making flawed allegations and dodging questions.

Your feeble attempt to prove some "fallacy" failed. You haven't shown any fallacy on my part. Simply quoting me and saying "aha!" doesn't cut it. Can you actually prove anything or are you just making phony accusations?

Ok, I'll take you to school...
In the simplest terms, a "strawman" fallacy occurs when someone makes an oversimplified analogy and then attacks that analogy rather than the actual point being made.

Can you please explain how your statement was not a perfect example of this?

At any rate, if you believe that "Simply quoting me and saying "aha!" doesn't cut it.", can you explain the apparent hypocrisy of doing exactly that with no attempt at justifying your claims?
After all, it seems only one of us (hint: not you) has actually illustrated exactly why the "strawman" label is appropriate.

I wondered why you offered your own definition of what a strawman is....now I know why...you are wrong. Here is an official definition:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man

I simply made a comparison as to make it clear how silly the idea of debating whether or not the Noah flood was global or not. I didn't misrepresent anything I merely made an observation.

I guess you can attempt to invent your own definition of terms but you have ended up looking very foolish. Maybe you should buy a dictionary and study up before you attempt to "school" anyone. LOL!

How does this differ from the definition I provided?
Clearly, using an oversimplified analogy is misrepresenting the argument.

Yup, and your "comparison" was so oversimplified and unfounded as to be a misrepresentation of the argument. Duh.

That's amusing for someone who simply says "strawman" every time there's a statement they can't argue with, even when that statement doesn't fit any definition of the term.

BTW, are you ever going to answer any of the questions that have been put to you, or do you intend to continue dodging through the use of red herrings and ad hominems?

It differs because the goal of using a straw man is to deceive and make the debate about something else. I didn't do that. I merely made a comparison in order to illustrate my point. I didn't attribute my comparison to what you were discussing. I merely pointed out how ridiculous your argument was. There is no deception involved in that.

You may want to review the post in question, because it's pretty clear that you're now back-peddling.

Given that you completely ignored my question about whether you were done dodging questions that are on-point... I'll assume your lack of reply is indicative of how much rational on-topic discussion you have to contribute: none.

Some White Baptists get VERY upset when I happen to tell them Jesus was dark skinned.

They still have this MADE FOR TV view of Jesus being white...blonde and blue eyed! LOL!!!

I got my girl...SKY'S....friend all upset the other day when I asked her if she knew WHY it was called EASTER and what Bunnies, Eggs, Chicks, Green Grass in Baskets had to do with Easter.

She said she didn't know then I told her it is really the Spring Fertility Goddess Holiday of ESTER!

But then again this girl thinks that the King James Bible just popped into existence.

There is not a smidgen of back peddling on my part. I am explaining a simple logical fallacy and for some reason you just can't grasp a simple concept.

    Let's take another look:
So, how was the below quote not about what I was discussing? It seems like you're directly challenging the validity of what I was saying by (falsely) claiming it was equivalent to some oversimplified analogy involving the Titanic.
    You can go now.

Clarifying is not back peddling so you fail there.

Making a comparison to illustrate a point is not a strawman so you fail there also.

You are doing nothing but making yourself look foolish.
