The Senate vote was 51-47, short of the 60 votes necessary. Two Republicans voted to procede to the legislation Maine Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe. But four Democrats rejected the effort Sens. Jim Webb of Virginia, Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Mark Begich of Alaska. 51 out of 55 democrats voted for it.....but dont let reality stand in your way, it never has before
You mean the tax money that is paid to government? You still don't see the circle. Let me help. Petro lobbyists ---> campaign funding ---> increased petro tax ---> petro company tax breaks ---> petro lobbyists ---> campaign funding ---> over and over and over I am oppose of oil tax subsidizing just as much as I am opposed to ridiculous taxes on fuel to pay for tax subsidizing for our politicians to raise money to fund themselves.
Yes, you're right.... :eyeroll: all Big Evil Oil profits go into the pockets of a handfull of executives and is "hoarded" none is folded back into expansion, exploration, equipment, developing new technology, new hires, *UNION* employee compensation/pension enhancements... and none goes to retirement account investors (hoping Big Oil will be profitable) in the form of dividends. I'd put you on ignore, Monty....but your complete ignorance of capitalism amuses me.
Its sad you fall for the corporate brainwashing. So its "capitalism" when we give already multibillion dollar corporations tax breaks susidies and in some cases tax returns even though they paid NOTHING in taxes...Thats capitalism But evil "socialism" is workers wanting less money going into the hands of the already rich and into their pocket through living wages, insurance, paid time off, etc etc... What a warped opinion.
"Obama couldn't end the subsidies when Democrats controlled Congress earlier in his term." What was that about reality?
Sure looks that way doesnt it. Even when its campaign time he couldnt get it passed. Never mind he got smacked in the face with his Budget plan. Seems its not all peachy keen in Dem land anymore.
So you do not care how much gas increases and the burden it will put on the poor and middle America? So much for the left caring about the poor.
As long as we are flushing billions down the toilet in failing green technology I will support tax breaks for industries that actually produce energy...
Not really. They could cut tax benefits while simultaneously cutting the gas tax, and essentially wash the two. But we don't expect the government monopoly to give up profit and clout!
I don't know why you all still respond to him. I put him on ignore a long time ago. His complete lack of understanding of capitalism is almost unbelievable. In this case, he thinks that 8 people are sitting in a conference room with dollar bill literally spewing from the room laughing and swimming like Scrooge McDuck through their profits. I mean, how can you possibly have a logical discussion with somebody that thinks that way while failing to realize that oil companies are one of the largest publicly traded commodities on the world market and that when they have record profits like that it literally helps millions of American's retirement plans and other investments. He has obviously bought into the "evil greedy corporate elites" sound bite being fed him by the liberal elites. And he eats it up. I would just quit wasting my time if I were you.
I take it you have no idea how much tax they pay and that subsidies pay for exploration. You can't take away Billions of dollars and say it will not affect price. That makes no sense http://www.americanthinker.com/2011/05/about_those_oil_subsidies.html http://hotair.com/archives/2011/05/03/oil-company-subsidies-clarified/
Oh well time to start paying for exploration themselves..Isn't that what right wingers are all about "private innovation?".
Don't need to read right wing bias. Besides its already been prove beyond a reasonable doubt your beloved trickle down theory is an abysmal failure.
Im telling you man. Some people put facts at a very low priority in these discussions. Don't even waste your time.
