The mpre profit they have the more money they can potentially put back into their company. Look at the state of Venesuala and China's oil production. They don't have any environmental standards for the simple fact they can't afford them. They have antiquated and environmentally disasterous means of oil production. As long as they can stick a hole in the ground and make oil come out of it theyre fine. If a private company (BP for example) doesn't want to be the company that flooded out the Gulf with oil. If it was "BIG U.S. OIL" they would apologize and promise it would never happen again and then take the $42 mil in profits and flush it down the crapper like they do with everything else. You hear some politicians complain when a CEO makes $30 MIL a year but theirs silence when George Clooney makes a godawful whiner flick and gets $20 MIL for it. For SOME REASON people seem very selective with their outrage over profits.
