Maybe it is time to set aside the old ideas about "democracy" for a little while.

Is Putin above or below ground? And if the meeting participant is such a shady character why did we grant him citizenship?

If Trump's people had registered as agents for a foreign government instead of hiding the fact, they would not have triggered FISA with their calls to the Russian embassy.

You think Putin is any less of a KGB type now than he was when he ran the successor to that agency?

    Once KGB always KGB

The issue is the illegal targeting of Americans, specifically the Trump campaign using the FISA Section 702 process. Illegally targeting Americans is what has been uncovered.

Shouldn't Obama be arrested for colluding with Putin as president?

Trump supporters trying real hard to make people forget that Trump is under investigation, two of his people have pled guilty, and two more have been indicted.

and Martha Stewart went to prison, not for insider trading as charged, but for giving answers that the FBI claimed was incorrect.

Then why was a "non-target" like Flynn recorded and stored (against the law) and then leaked to the press (against the law) with the obvious insinuation that Flynn, the transition NSA, was nefariously colluding with the Russian ambassador. The issue is not the word targeting, it is the illegal archiving of surveillance records that are not to be kept, and the illegal deliberate leaking of information from those illegally kept records.

Well, looks like the FBI 'Lost" five months of texts from the biased, corrupt FBI agent Peter Strzok.

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/more-texts-turned-over-fbi-agent-taken-off-161343170--politics.html

Strzok, of course, was the lead FBI agent who exonerated Hillary from her crimes and was assigned as the lead investigator to Mueller's investigative team.

Maybe they'll be found by patriotic Americans working for the NSA.

Either way, the corrupt Obama administration that tried to sway a presidential election by unlawfully using – and weaponizing – the FBI and Department of Justice is heading for their day of reckoning...

Maybe if the Obama administration hadn't been shoving there way whenever possible it wouldn't have been so common.

FISA powers grant the Intelligence Community surveillance powers over foreign threats without a warrant. The problem is the program extends into a massive database that includes many American citizens. If an individual contacts a foreigner by phone or email, that person can be added to the database. The general argument against the FISA program is to maintain the database, but require that the Intelligence Community get a warrant before spying on Americans who are in the database.

As long as the IC can spy on Americans without first issuing a warrant, these powers will repeatedly be abused

Actually the NSA collects all texts and phone calls. The 702 requests are only for foreigners since they have no constitutional rights. Totally illegal to use against Americans. This is the real issue.

I bet Strzok's emails are hiding out with Hillary's lost emails.

I don't think this is correct. The FISA warrants extend only to foreign agents and 99% foreign nationals. IC might record an American talking to a foreign agent, like Flynn, but that record is to be kept confidential and soon destroyed unless there is clear evidence of nefarious dealings, in which case the IC can get the FISA court to let them keep the evidence.

Unless the individual has given reason to be added to the FISA database, which can be as simple as emailing a foreign individual and using one of the many "alarm" words (for example, if I am a journalist contracting a foreign source to ask information about the leaders of ISIS, I can then be added to the FISA database). Once an American has been added to that specific database, there are no warrants required to spy on that individual.
