this whole occupy thing has gotten out of control.

If you listen to interviews, they catch themselves whenever they say the word "protester" and quickly say "occupier"

a culture who believes that free stuff will just come to them. The kid probably thinks there was a magical money tree out back and not mom and dad working.

I would not be surprised to find out that the parents were murdered by Tea Party activists. I think the son caught them and they threatened his life and lives of others if he says anything.

I find it absolutely appalling that they would raise a child like this. It is time that we all embrace personal responsibility and face the consequences. If this young man had been brought up with good christian morals in a conservative household, he would have never done such a heinous thing.

 

Kids being turned against their parents by political movements are nothing new. I'm sure everyone knows of Hitler youth but this was far from the only occasion movements have created a divide between the traditional values and the new values a movement was trying to introduce. The parent is seen as evil and a traitor by the child.

No it's not. New political movements often cause a divide between generations.

 

That is what god wanted. For the murder to happen. The murder should turn to religion so there will be no accountability. Just like US public school educators. No accountability. After all, the gubment welfare check went to the foster parents, and not the kid. I agree, those welfare gubment cheese eating foster parents need to get a real kid. If they can't make a baby, it is becauyse god and your jeasus does not want them to have one.

To an extent, you're right. But last I heard not one person has ever been arrested at a Tea Party rally, while OWS advocates breaking the law and hundreds have been arrested at OWS rallies doing exactly that.

I hope none of the OWS rallies have advocated "kill your parents" but their calls to take what you feel entitled to from those who have it, even if you have to break the law, can be interpreted as an endorsement of violence. I can see how a mixed up 15 year old caught up in that, could take that message to this extent.

I don't think OWS organizers meant for something like this to happen. But I do think the fundamental message OWS is putting out there is not too different from shouting fire in a crowded theater. So I don't think painting everyone who subscribes to that message as a contributor to violence that may come from it is unreasonable.

 

The 1% shall be on notice!

Being a foster kid is linked to criminal behavior as well. Aside from that, other than the drug use (which shouldn't be illegal) and public disturbance type crimes (its a protest) can you show me one article that shows evidence that there is a higher rate of crime at the protests (not just the camps) than among the general population?

 

From the background of his foster parents, I think we can conclude he was raised with liberal 'values' -- which usually means slim or none.

It's a tragedy, but one can't help but wonder if the OWSers hadn't been trying to re-kindle their protests in Oakland... these folks might still be alive.

People are understandably angry at the situation we face.

I don't think the violence shown by OWS does any good, but there are certain people leading the Fed Reserve who probably can only be properly dealt with via violence.

 

The people "leading" OWS encampments seem to agree with you and their speeches, signs, and even the name of the movement seems to reflect that kind of disregard and sense of entitlement. You don't see why folks may question whether the OWS rhetoric contributed to this kid's decision in how to properly deal with his own authority problems?

 

Liberal values=godlessness. All sinners are liberals and all liberals are sinners. I can tell from the article that the parents were godless liberals and had indoctrinated these non-beliefs into their adopted child. This would be the only reasonable conclusion for his rebellion. Had they forced him into Sunday(fantasy) school, he may have joined the Tea Party instead.

 

There is simply not enough information to say one way or the other.
Perhaps this was a lost soul, trying to belong to a group, any group, and thought to have found a home among the OWSers.
I will assume that the lad had problems long before he heard about the movement.
Time will tell.

not all ows protesters are legally insane though so it is a bad generalization of the people in the movement..
