If history determines who should be in charge in the middle east, then Israel has the historical advantage. The Romans drove the Jews out of Israel in 70 AD. It still rightly belongs to Jews.

 

And if International Law determines who should control this area, Israel was granted statehood by the United Nations (in what might have been their first, last and only act of deference to the Israelis) and are, thus, deemed the legal occupants. It still rightly belongs to the Jews.

And if the rule of war (to the winner go the spoils) determines who should control this region, the Israelis have used military victories to secure these holdings.

 

It's just as well that history doesn't determine ownership then, isn't it. That's the task of modern international and customary law.
