    Perhaps you haven't read a page or two previous to my post(s) that you quoted and responded to.

    Your buddy insulted a almost 90 year old "great" man who served his country sometime around the end of WWII.

    And he used the mans military service to insult him with.

    I didn't see you call your buddy out on that.

    But the odds are on the side of the Cops as far as who is doing the shootin' and who is receiving the shots.

    Like I said, you're missing the point.

    Sounds to me like he was a casual fan who watched football every once in a while but now will no longer watch it again. That's a rating hit to the NFL. To sit there and argue "oh well he was never really a football fan anyway" is nonsense. He watched games and now he doesn't. That's exactly what the NFL cannot afford at this time; to lose the casual fan.
    Where are you getting that it was a "more than 1 year contract"? They didn't have 4 year contracts back then like they do now. Back then they had a little something called "the draft" which is a deal that says "you're here so long as we need you and when we don't need you anymore, we will let you go."
    And yet, for some reason, you keep returning to that subject over and over.

    He's full of ****. People who served their country never denigrate others who did the same, especially those who served during World War 2. He shows a fundamental lack of understanding regarding what a service contract is and how those have changed throughout the decades.

    They never drafted anyone until they were through with them. The draft was for a period of time, usually 2 years, and never for only 1 year. When a person joined the Navy, it was for a 4 year minimum, simply because they were not going to train you for sea duty and
    then send you home. No. A navy ship goes to sea for 6 months, due to the cost involved. The true fan ain't going anywhere, my friend,
    not for long anyway. The casual fan can easily walk away, maybe for that reason, and he too will be back in a casual way. You are
    missing the point. Did you serve?
