I don't understand this question. A shooter that ends his/her mass shooting by committing suicide has removed the gallows step.

And people who keep guns aren't that likely to answer surveys honestly particularly if the legality of the weapon may be questionable and/or it may make them a target for thieves.

I think you underestimate thieves if you think they won't steal guns or will avoid your house out of fear if you have them. Most thieves won't victimize you if you are there and those who will are not afraid of your gun anyway. (They probably should be but overt crime isn't a field you go into if you're that intelligent)

By the time it gets to the point where a rifle is needed the USA is done anyway

 

In 2019 in America a quick google search reveals there were 16,425 murders in America (not all with guns). In the UK, about 3.5 times smaller than the USA with a largely unarmed (with guns) police force there were 809. No death penalty either.
America has a 20 times higher murder rate.
Why do you think that is?
I think it is a combination of the availability of guns, and something about the American mindset.
Hard though it may be for some to swallow, Biden is right when he talks about national embarrassment.

 

I support stronger background checks and maybe (strong maybe) liability insurance. I do think we should offer some type of training on safe use and storage but other than that. Smart weapons do look interesting though but only for handguns.

If you are scared of people like me I would hate to see how you feel about people that actually want to ban weapons.

The right to own an “arm” isn’t absolute, look at felons, the huge numbers of “arms” that are completely unavailable to the general public and the number of places where they cannot be carried (ie airport, political rallies, schools, government facilities).

Actually, someone else made a suggestion and I responded that I could get behind such a plan.

A mass shooter executed at the gallows or killing himself/herself after a shooting spree would both serve to deter others.

You thinkbelieve everyone is walking around with a rifle on their shoulder or a .45 or 9mm strapped to their hip?

The UK, as well as every other European country, doesn't have a huge minority population like the U.S. does.

Take away the firearm deaths caused by minorities (mostly blacks) and it puts the U.S. at about the middle of European countries when it comes to homicides.

The 1.52 per 100,000 murder rate is right in the middle of the murder rate of developed European countries. Add the Black and Hispanic numbers back into the mix and apply to the entire United States population, and the murder rate goes up to 4.8 per 100,000. Guns or gun control simply do not correlate to higher murder rates, particularly when you consider that non-Hispanic Whites own guns at much higher rates than do Blacks or Hispanics in the United States.

Yes, I do. Shoot my guns on a regular basis as well.

Gun sales are through the roof, have been for years.

First time gun ownership is at record highs.

Ammo has been hard to find because so many people are buying it for their guns.

So, you tell me what is stopping you from owning a gun?

 

Do you just go to the gun range/shooting area and nowhere else?

Do you go to the store, restaurants, movies, hang around town and stuff?

Is virtually everyone you see carrying firearms including yourself?

Or is nary a firearm in sight except at the shooting area(s)?

 

So the US doesn’t have a gun issue, it has a minority issue according to your post, correct?

If those minority groups are Americans it is still an American problem. Your desire to paint certain groups as the cause doesn’t really address anything.

Blacks make up 16% of the US population. In the UK, blacks (West Indian, Indian, Pakistani) make up about 13%. Not a big difference.
