Oh, probably the same rationale that led every president from Harry Truman to Ronald Reagan to keep the lines of communication open between us and your old fellow travelers in the USSR. Trump didn't invent the notion, much less the policy, of talking with our nation's competitors and enemies. Last I checked, our lines of communications with Russia were open when Trump took office. I don't recall Obama severing relations with Russia and cutting off all communication with that country. Did I miss something? To answer your fallacious question, it's not our obligation to open up lines of communications with anyone. Nixon wasn't obligated to open up lines of communications with Red China but he did it for the same reason why we always open those lines of communications because it's in our interest to do so. We already know the Left is scapegoating Russia for its own failures in 2016 and progs are livid that Trump trolled them in Helsinki yesterday but the world goes on with or without you. There are disagreements to argue about and common interests to pursue and that requires talking to the *******s in the Kremlin. That hasn't changed since November 16, 1933...
It may? Is that like it may be in the best interest for a frog to have wings so that it wont bump its ass when it hops. It may. It wasn't....and its obvious it wasn't, with all that hacking Russia continued to do. Then the Chinese, Then the Iranians. Etc etc.
You asked two different questions. A person can acknowledge something happened and still be against it.
Perhaps several possible reasons. Like, liberals today are not the same kind of liberal as the DP once had. Perhaps the new modern liberals are neocons on foreign policy? That is one possibility. The other possible explanation is this is purely partisan politics and the modern liberal has no principle other than tribalism, partisan politics. Another possibility is that they have a pathological driven hatred for trump and it is equal to their lack of principled partisanship. Obama was easy on russia, and yet it did not elicit the cries from the dems that we see coming from them today. And we and russia have meddled in elections for decades, so this isn't new. Perhaps what is new is that the dems must use russia as a scapegoat for the unbeatable hillary, being beaten, by someone like trump. Gotta still be stuck in their craws. Now, there is little rationality involved in this russian hysteria, which makes any responsible leader who wants to ramp down tensions....a treasonous traitor, according to the democrats and the neocons in both parties. This stuff belongs in the old Twilight Zone series where the surreal was common, and irrationality prolific. I guess this is life imitating art?
Letting them continue likely made it easier to catch them. You all lost your minds when obama said it was Russia. Many of you still deny it! Lol
She doesn't make the top 50, in terms of millionaire Congress critters. Her net worth is around 1.5 million. To be in the top 50, in terms of wealth, you need at least 7 million. Almost all congress critters are millionaires.
If thats your interpretation that's great but the left has never once Condemned Obama or Europe for it. Why if now they are pretending that election tampering is wrong ibut no outrage from the left back then?
Why not? You asked if the US and the EU interferred in the Ukraine elections. I said Yes. You asked if it's only ok if the US does it. I said no. How are those two statements diametrically opposed?
Not sure what the Pompeo issue your referring to is but the budget? come on .. no one gets everything they want in a budget. Trump complained about the spending in the Budget but still signed it. The Senate voted down Paul's budget plan ... https://www.reviewjournal.com/opinion/editorials/editorial-senate-votes-down-rand-pauls-budget-plan/ BTW - Paul voted against the Budget. https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/congress/article206452329.html
I'm not going to defend what Cubed said, just that you asked two questions and he gave two answers. Perfectly legit.
So he did. My mistake. Like I said, I don't keep a list, but I keep hearing Paul say no during a process and turning around and voting yes. Confirming Pompeo is one example. He was strongly against Pompeo during the process, but voted yes to confirm. He didn't even need to do that, as Pompeo was getting confirmed with or without his vote.
Paul had concerns due to Pompeo supporting the Patriot act and Torture. Perhaps these concerns were resolved. Regardless .. kudo's for Paul to bring these issues up to begin with. The real question we should be asking is why did not others. In politics one needs to choose one's battles. One can not run against a herd of stampeding bulls on every occasion. Most never do and if so it is exceedingly rare. Every time I turn around pretty much I see Paul running against the herd.
Don't mind him. He's just trying to find any level of the hint of bias so he can dismiss anything and everything I say. Which is funny that he thinks I believe he would ever accept anything I (a crazy two faced liberal Canadian) I would say.
I'm not hating on Rand Paul. IMO, he is the only one in Congress who does anything resembling thoughtful governance. Note that his father, Ron, never caved. He voted his principles every single time.
I get that a lot. I find it funny, rather than annoying, when I get called a loony lefty and a right-wing nut on the same day. You're not allowed to have opinions based on individual issues these days. Pick a party and defend them no matter what seems to be the norm, which is so sad. I find it ridiculously hard to believe that so many people either love/hate every single thing a person does, simply because of the elected official's party.
There are a few others but few and far between. Most have sold their souls to the Establishment - international and national financiers that influence control and set the agenda and foreign policy in our pay to play system.
Yeah, unfortunately Politics has/is devolving into a team sport mentality. As long as you can find a way to create an equivalency then you never have to own up to your own sides transgressions. Basically 'Well they did it first' schoolyard mindset.
Truly. Except for Rand Paul and perhaps a handful of others, the USA is run by 3rd graders with a, "I know you are but what am I?" mentality.
Trump's absolutely right on this. Our intelligence agencies are at war with the American Electorate and most certainly DO NOT represent our nation, our ELECTED President does. Trump showed amazing restraint and I applaud him for it.
If that was the case they would have caught the Chinese that hacked into the OPM, and got the names of All in the Military and IC. Plus their family members and friends, and wouldn't have caused us to close down our Informants in China. Nah, everyone knew the Peep would have to let all know about who the Russians actually hacked, after the Chinese breach and that screw up.
Meh, they just want to get out and do some more name calling, get back to disrespecting all Trump supporters and then those on the Right. They never change their tactics.
