Ranked Vote: How To Enact Immigration Reform? (Consolidated)

Again, if they want a job here they should go through the legal channels.
We should make it easier for them to do so by reforming the visa programs,
and harder for them to do things illegally/off the books by beefing up border security,
and again cracking down on those who knowingly employ undocumented immigrants;
they are just as culpable as the people they're hiring, if not more so.

I agree, more sponsorship visas wouldn't be a bad idea, though if we could only have more of one or the other, I'd still personally prefer more merit-based visas. BTW, the following link may contain some relevant information:

I have no personal relationships with any congressional members, though I do send them feedback on occasion.
If you're trying to suggest that this is an issue for congress, I'd say that yes, they should be involved in
finding and implementing a comprehensive solution to the issue. But as I've mentioned before,
we the everyday citizens cannot just sit back and leave things to them. This is an issue
which we all need to decide, as a country, and come to consensus on.

If you know of another way to solve things other than just giving up, I'm certainly open to suggestions.
Also, this isn't just their problem, its all our problem.

Where have I advocated for "illegal people"? I've stated over and over again that people caught sneaking across the border ought to be deported. That there needs to be a crackdown on those who illegally employ undocumented immigrants. Sure, I also think that when deporting them, that effort should be made not to unnecessarily split up their families. As even criminals (including foreign criminals) ought to be afforded certain rights just as human beings, to say that they shouldn't be denied humane treatment is in no way condoning their breaking of the law. Congress should be more than capable of simply requiring that deported families be deported together.

Lol, and do you really think congress is going to be motivated to do any of that without some sort of concerted push from the general populous? They certainly don't seem to have been particularly motivated to get their act together so far. With perhaps two exceptions, they seem to favor either completely ignoring the problem, or doing things which make the problem worse and or things that have to be immediately reversed due to being poorly thought out, all before ultimately kicking the can down the road, again, and again, and again... I mean... how many years has it been? How many years have we lacked comprehensive immigration reform? Are we supposed to just sit back and cross our fingers on this one... hope that congress eventually improves on their own, or what?
