Because according to God, marriage is between a man and a woman. VERY simple.

Do you think that Christ would judge a murderer?

Treat others as you would be treated? Do these religious business owners want these people to participate in THEIR same sex wedding?

Have these business owners claimed that they are without sin?

According to this article, https://www.atheists.org/legal/faq/first-amendment/, it's not clear how that would shake out. You're right about the precedent, though, I had forgotten about that.

Now let's make it even more murky. A Muslim refuses to drive a Jew in his taxi, claiming religious justification. The court sides with the Muslim, saying there's lots of taxis the Jew can take and he doesn't have to ride with someone who hates him. Agnostic Neo-Nazi then refuses to drive a Jew in his taxi, claiming his anti-Semitism is equally as valid as the Muslim's. Win or lose for the Neo-Nazi?

You have no clue what God thinks ... its very simple.

Obviously you do not understand the teachings of Christ either.. Have you never heard of the command "thou shalt not kill" ?

    The above makes no sense.

Clearly you have no clue what Jesus was talking about in the passage referred to. I can't make any sense out of this question.

Well it would need to be determined that it was designed to wean out homosexual conduct. In the US states where these anti-discrimination laws apply, is there a separate law covering the rental market, or does it fall under the same Public Accommodation laws as shops and hotels etc.?

Based on what I know, I agree.

But you think that they SHOULD care about a gay couple being "troubled" by being told that they cannot provide a wedding cake for the gay couple's wedding?

Why? Is a wedding caterer participating?

Would someone be participating in homosexuality by simply being in the bedroom when gay people are having sex?

The Bible describes marriage as being between a man and a woman. Is this actually news to you?

Where in the Bible does it say that judging is only okay if it is judging a violation of one of the 10 commandments?

How are you saying that the gay couple's should've been treated?

"Let ye who is without sin cast the first rock." The idea being that nobody is without sin. You understand that this is what it is getting at, right?

The Bible was written by man. You claimed to know what God thoughts were on the issue - which of course is abject nonsense.

You had asked about "murder" - rights end where the nose of another begins. Jesus states that if one wants to get into heaven one must follow the "commands".

Like any other couple who wants to get married.

Yes - you on the other hand clearly do not.

In reply to the question, "Is atheism protected under the First Amendment", the article says "Yes" doesn't it? Besides, my point extends to someone who doesn't call themselves an atheist. They're just an American.

So you're saying that it could be used and argued under the Equal Protection Clause?

According to the Equal Protection Clause? Assuming that it is the same court and the Muslim case occurs first, it must be a win for the Nazi otherwise I can't see how it is anything other than unconstitutional. But you're the lawyer out of the two of us!

No, they don't even ADMIT that they are discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation! Because they're not! They serve gay people all the time!

Sure, but I mean in a workplace that doesn't operate on the Christian holidays of Good Friday, Easter Sunday and also Christmas Day. I'm saying that someone of another religion should not have any right to take a religious day off when the workplace that they work in is otherwise in full operation, with the rest of the staff not able to take off the same day.

What do you mean religious holidays in schools?

But you don't believe in God do you? Therefore, Christians can believe what they want about God as far as you're concerned, right? And one of the things that they believe about God is that He inspired what was written in the Bible.

    Got a Bible quote?

Okay, but you said, "treat others as you would be treated". So you must have an idea of how the business owners want to be treated. Do you?

To confirm, do you understand that what it is getting at is that nobody is without sin?

Would you consider that to be a firing on the basis of sexual orientation? I wouldn't.

I can only speak for my own experience, and that is unless it's inherently obvious (like they're in a long term heterosexual marriage, and maybe not even then), for the most part I have never had a clue the sexual orientation of my co-workers or employees.

What if? In most places, discrimination based on sexual orientation is a crime. I suspect it will be all places (at least in the US) fairly quickly. You're allowed to hate gays, which you clearly do, but you're not allowed to fire them because of it. Or, in many/most places refuse to provide a product/service you offer to the general public. Sorry. Not sorry.

What if the boss knew his orientation before he got engaged? Would it be discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation if he fired him only after finding out that he is having a gay wedding that he doesn't participate in by paying the wages?

Provide evidence that I "hate gays", if you are even remotely capable of doing so.

    What do you mean?

I do believe in God - This does not mean that I am stupid enough to defacto claim that I know what God thinks.

    Matt 19
If you do not want others discriminating against you - then do not do the same to others.

no one is saying they have to.. a big mac is not art... once it's on display as for sale the exception also no longer applies

do you think some emergency room doctors should be able to discriminate and not take some customers based on race or gender?
