    Yet another claim that cannot actually be proven on the part of yourself.

    So trump’s slogan that the red hats cheer is whining? Interesting. I thought it was patriotic to want what’s best for your country but since we can no longer voice our dissatisfaction or be told to move I guess that narrative is incorrect.

    Wait, didn’t you whine continuously when Obama was president? Why didn’t you move? Are you gonna whine when the next democrat is elected or will you just move?

    I've heard that China produces a lot of our medicines. They should have the capability to produce a coronavirus vaccine. What will we do if we ever have a shooting war with China? Does your health insurance pay for a shingles shot? They cost about $300. Check it out.

    I gave you an easy win and you are complaining. Don't you know that the drug company CEOs will take a 95% pay cut so that they can sell the vaccine for 50 cents a shot because they are so concerned about people's health and welfare?

    China makes drugs and vaccines developed in America. Your original statement was they could develop a corona vaccine and sell it for a dollar. They may pirate a vaccine developed in America but America will develop it.

    Interesting thought.

    Today it's reported that a cruise ship is being denied entry into the Port of LA. CDC has issued a statement that the passengers are under a quarantine order.

    We legally disallow citizens into the country who might have been exposed to Coronavirus. The argument can be made medically as well.

    If the virus is as virulent and contagious as is being reported then wouldn't the policy of exclusion be reasonable and rational?

    If we are excluding citizens from entry by water at ports legally, justified by settled medical science then why aren't we excluding non-citizens and citizens alike at land borders or airports?

    Reagan proposed a free trade agreement which is what Trump wants now. NAFTA which Clinton signed into existence was supposed to accomplish that but did not include enough safeguards and free trade turned into a one way street with America residing at the dead end of that street.

    You realize China has a health insurance industry and that Coronavirus and other rare diseases aren't covered by it and those effected are required to pay out of pocket.

    The Chinese government changed this policy for covid-19 only when it became epidemic and as I recall only for Wuhan and the prefecture it's in.

    Cheers, have an infectious day.

    I see. You weren't there
    Consumers decided because they wanted lower prices. Producers simply got the job done. It has been one of sorriest occurrences in our history. And I blame consumers, not the companies that responded to them.

    That you are comparing us to China says all anyone should need to know about where we rank on this issue.

    You're denying it was Nixon who instituted wage and price controls?

    No but I expect you to empty your savings and donate it to pay for vaccines because you are so concerned about people's health and welfare.

    Yes. He had a short bout with it to get re-elected. The Carter administration started what I'm talking about. I know because I worked for a retail company and had to analyze pricing to make sure it met the requirements. it was a disaster and contributed to the 18% prime rate. There weren't wage controls.

    This thread is dead from the start! And now there is total proof with a bipartisan bill passed by the House with only two nay votes. More cry wolf from the Dems!

    Well sorry but wage and price controls were put in place by Nixon after the Congress gave him the authority to do so with The Economic Stabilization Act of 1970. And the price controls remained through Ford and Carter and led us to the high inflation just as Milton Friedman had predicted and the the gas lines.

    Remembering Nixon’s Wage and Price Controls

    On Aug. 15, 1971, in a nationally televised address, Nixon announced, “I am today ordering a freeze on all prices and wages throughout the United States.”

    After a 90‐day freeze, increases would have to be approved by a “Pay Board” and a “Price Commission,” with an eye toward eventually lifting controls — conveniently, after the 1972 election.

    What Carter instituted price controls are you talking about?

    And I sat in those gas lines, I was there.

    Why do you keep harping on cost, the cost will be covered by private insurance, Obamacare, Medicaid and Medicare.

    Likely less since the trump admin cut some red tape to get it going. They are doing trials now, it takes some time to make sure a vaccine is safe

    The R plan of the 90s. Some base stuff was in their plan.

    Among other features, the Chafee bill included:

    • An individual mandate;

    • Creation of purchasing pools;

    • Standardized benefits;

    • Vouchers for the poor to buy insurance;

    • A ban on denying coverage based on a pre-existing condition.
    "You would find a great deal of similarity to provisions in the Affordable Care Act," Sheila Burke, Dole’s chief of staff in 1993, told PunditFact via email. "The guys were way ahead of the times!! Different crowd, different time, suffice it to say."

    Nor did I say they did. What they did was prefer lower priced imports to more expensive domestic production.
