Even the dumbest of members can see a difference between a budget and the kind of disenfranchising legislation that is being considered here. If that Texas bill passes, entire constituencies will see compromised their real practical access to the process by which they can impact any legislation for decades, including budget legislation. Its a corruption of the entire republican ( small 'r') system by which Americans are supposed to have an indirect impact on their govt.

This running off is a lousy tactic, that I normally disapprove of, but there is absolutely no second bite at this apple. If, for example, voters end up standing in lines for 5 hours when they physically cannot stand for hours, or have no access to water, or food, or only reaching the polling station two hours before it closes, because they have to work, only to be turned away because the polling station closes hours., they are in effect denied the right to have that vote counted.

Laws that impede access in a disproportionate way based on race, class, and geography, are laws with a self perpetuating disproportionate impact on all aspects of governance for decades.

That is why we tend to make it easier rather than harder to cast a ballot.

    Was that stimulus bad?

    Why not 10 trillion?

Wrong question. Forego the tax cut and it would have been paid for.
So, the correct question is, 'Was the tax cut bad?".

    The answer is 'no'.
It was a bipartisan bill, and we can readily assume republicans would say no.

I would, too. too much of a good medicine becomes poison.

This whole thing is deliciously hilarious, for an outsider like me... so many clever, political maneuvers going on and all with the same objective... the avoidance of governing.
