I remember around 2000 I turned my dial to this "chauvinistic, misogynistic, racist, bigoted, bombastic " entertainer because I was curious. I fully intended to get a taste and get disgusted and move on. Instead, as I listened I kept thinking things like "well, thats just commonsense, .....yeah I agree with him on that, .....well thats the truth,...... I believe that, ......we agree on this....." I stuck around waiting to hear all this terrible stuff I've been hearing about and after 20 years it never materialized. He was truly insightful and kind and funny and will be missed. But he's in a much better and loving place.

That’s not what I asked. This years election was turned on its head because mail in voting got the greatest turn out. If that continues, which Penn is now trying to shut down, redistricting and long lines won’t matter. So, you are mistaken.

 

It's not a myth. The parties treat it like a prize. Whomever controls the state legislature, controls the redistricting. It happens every 10 years, and both teams do it with careless abandon. It's disgusting, but it is what it is.

 

I wasn't a big fan...but I wish him to rest in peace. He was, as he admitted occasionally, foremost an entertainer. And, he messed up one of his greatest moments - his keynote address to CPAC, in 2009. He misquoted the preamble to the Constitution. Of course, it didn't matter to his audience. They applauded all the way through. Subsequently several other "conservatives" (I believe Rep Michelle Bachmann and VP candidate Palin among them) followed his lead, thus presumably changing American history...at least for conservatives.

I never was a big fan simply because I didn't listen to talk radio. Busy with other things, I guess.
From what I've gathered, he was a lot like President Trump, hence his enormous popularity in that he had the gift, the ability of coming out, and no matter how unpolitically correct it was, saying what many of his listeners were thinking but were afraid to say publicly.
