Last question first: because it's a "national" healthcare program. That means it's for ALL AMERICANS. It's SUPPOSED to cover everybody. That's the reason it exists. By the way, that coverage includes you and your spouse and your children, and your grandchildren, etc. It's also true that "other people" would be paying into that same account to help pay for you and your loved ones. We would all be paying in to cover ourselves, but our money would be used as needed to cover everyone. That makes for a more united America. That is a powerful expression of Americans caring for Americans.

First question: I'm not sure a national healthcare program would actually cover illegals. Canada and some European countries do that, and it is a strong form of humanitarianism, but whether it would be included in the program is really open to discussion. My wife had a medical emergency in Canada requiring surgery. She was in what she describes as "the most modern, technologically advanced hospital" she's ever seen, for three days. Upon discharge, she was charged $29.00. They told her the charge was for the use of the room TV for three days. My wife still insists it was the best medical care she's ever received in her life. I have a hard time demeaning such a system after that experience. I strongly support creating such a system for my country.

I've read alot of positions on this and I am not knee jerk reacting when I say this. I am honestly asking where in the hell is the money going to come from??

I recently acquired via a new job w amazing affordable Healthcare for my wife and I and it was because the business is profitable. They can afford it and it's a draw for employment as well. I want everyone to have this too but someone has to pay for it.

I feel like the poll was probably semi fair in its demographic but it just asked would you support X. Not would you support X if it meant half your income across all tax brackets would be needed to pay for such a thing. I know our country prints money based on credit but this one would require more trees than the planet has just to make the paper.

Bernie is so gdamn stupid sometimes. It's our Insurance and Pharma that's broken. Why doesn't he send his ANTIFA and polls after those two? His proposal is like trying to make an omelette without any eggs. Just a few veggies and some grilled onions. No substance that's edible but it smells good cooking

Most of the studies I have seen that are not looking to arrive at a desired conclusion have shown that the decrease in medical cost will come largely from group negotiations and increased price controls (ie a standard birth would cost 2 grand instead of 30 grand currently, an aspirin would cost .30 instead of 30 bucks). Many of them also assume decreases in future healthcare costs through cheaper preventative medicine.

 

The only businesses profiting from Trumpcare are funeral directors, coffin manufacturers, and debt collectors,

 

did that poll also warn that it would cost 30 trillion dollars over ten years and everyone's taxes would have to increase by 30% or more to pay for it ?
