Well, obviously to push the agenda further towards gun control. It's a fairly simple concept.

Haven't you noticed the MSM jumping on the gun issue, and not talking about anything else. All they say is "gun bans, gun regulations" etc.

Listen, the US government is clearly gearing up for civil unrest, in the event of two things happening:

-A total economic and or financial collapse.
-A large scale war with Iran that pushes oil prices through the sky. thus leading to economic collapse.

Guns in the hands of the average american, is a threat to a totalitarian government. Look if you think the US government is still for the people, then you're badly mistaken. The bigger government gets, the more authoritarian and totalitarian it becomes. Americans are now arrested for taking pictures or videoing government officials, there are now designated free speech zones, TSA body scanners and evasive pat downs for all including children and babies, civil checkpoint, NSA surveillance for all etc.

How can people not see that when your government is arresting you for taking pictures, and starts moving to disarm you, that they are essentially putting in place the precedent for a totalitarian state. Expect more mass shootings, expect more media hype. Expect them to SERIOUSLY move to disarm Americans in the next few years.

There will never be an outright ban. Everytime someone loses it you have interest groups pushing for a change in the law, only to met by a powerful lobby that won't have it and that is the end of it. The inroads made into gun laws are misniscule.
