Should Satanism be recognized by the Government?

In response to the destruction of a Satanic Temple display in the Iowa state house, Governor Ron DeSantis made the following statement.

"Satan has no place in our society and should not be recognized as a ‘religion’ by the federal government."

Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

 

I would have to disagree, reluctantly.

 

The government should recognize satan as a real threat to society.

 

It currently is recognized as evident by the Biden Administration.

Is it the mythical Satan?? or is it the belief in Satanism that is the issue in your view?? People 'believe" all kinds of things. The beliefs of humanity have changed through out history. Who knows what people will be believing in another 3 thousand or so years.
Religion of any kind should not be part of gov't. Religious beliefs should remain a personal thing.

 

I can show you the verse where it says "all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God". It also says "anyone who says they have not sinned are liars and do not know God". So does that make you better than Trump? Is their anyone fit for public office by your self righteous standards? "Anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved" So do you know what is now the condition of Donald Trumps soul? Do you know your own?

 

The fact that I have not cheated on my wife while Trump has cheated on ALL his wives makes me better than Trump.

Do you know anyone who loves money more than Trump? He has lied and cheated to obtain money. He gets angry when someone dares to suggest that his wealth is not as great as he claims.

I do not hold to an impossible standard when it comes to "righteousness". Acts of bad behavior are on a spectrum. It is not a binary of sin/not sin. So as far as character and being President are concerned there are many, MANY people with far more character than Donald Trump. Many of them are even Republican. And they are far more fit for public office.

 

Show us the Bible verse where it says to confuse the little kids in school and tell them that boys can be girls and girls can be boys...

So you judge Trump by your own standards. Let's do God's standards since you adequately quote scripture. Jesus said, " I tell you that anyone who looks at a women lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart". Couple the sin that you and I have committed with the pride you display in bragging that you don't and I would say you are in no better position to judge Trump. So you tell me, when was the last time Trump committed adultery and when was the last time YOU committed adultery?
As a matter of fact, you don't know Trump has EVER lied or cheated to obtain money. For you I am sure, it is only wishful thinking. You do know that he has produced businesses, buildings, employed thousands of people and for that, he is due some profit. Are you jealous?
As a matter of fact you do know that while Trump was in office our borders were far more secure. You do know we were not on the brink of a self induced war. You do know middle and lower class individuals of all races had far better purchasing power.
So you must seem quite happy with the current Administration. Ask yourself, what has Joe Biden done to produce great amounts of $$ for himself and his family? A lowly servant of government like he portrays himself does not acquire great wealth on the salary of a Senator, VP, or President. We are looking into all this. It is not the fact he is wealthy, but does this acquired wealth entail the reasons for which America opens it's borders to third world countries?....Or turns it's back when terrorist nations attack our military?.... Or watches appeasingly while Communist China floats a spy balloon over our military installations?

 

Let's NOT do "God's Standards" since they are unrealistic and, quite frankly, stupid.
The idea that looking "lustfully" at a woman is equivalent to actual adultery is unrealistic and stupid.

I have NEVER committed adultery because I don't use that ludicrous standard to define adultery.

I DO know that Trump has lied and cheated to obtain money. He was forced to close a charity and is barred from sitting on the board of a charity in NY because he cheated and used the charity to enrich himself. The judge in his civil trial has already ruled that he (and his sons) engaged in fraud. He has stiffed countless vendors and refused to pay them. You can turn a blind eye to his obvious fraudulent acts but I won't.

All the supposed misdeeds you list for Biden are just lies pushed by Trump and his allies in Congress.

The Satanic Temple began as a satirical secular group that doesn't believe in evil spirits. Its aim was to show the government's hypocrisy while claiming separation of church and state.
Thanks to an executive order by Trump that weakened tax laws, they now have a religious tax exemption

 

His statement is idiotic because satanists don't generally worship satan, but rather espouse a philosophy that is opposed to Christianity. It's covered under the first amendment as speech, but it's more a philosophy than a religion in most versions.

Satan isn't real. It's truly pathetic our leaders believe in fairy tales.

Satanists don't worship Satan, normally. Common forms of Satanism follow an anti-christian philosophy and do not generally believe in Satan or God. Actual devil worship is extremely rare. The whole concept of "devil worship" has been more often used by Christians to demonize their enemies/rivals, than actually engaged in.
