So, wearing a short skirt is like "dressing up like" the murderers of the KKK!

The "Taliban" are alive and well among us!

It has everything to do with the topic at hand. I am a Democrat. People see my avatar and react to me a certain way. If I don't want people to react to me as a Democrat I would change my Avatar. But what I can not do is get angry because people treat me like a Democrat when I have an Obama avatar. Is any of this making sense to you?

Wow ..... so you think sluttish-looking women look 'sophisticated', huh? You think a woman who shows cleavage down to her belly-button and hemlines up to her crotch looks 'sophisticated and classy'? Lol~to each their own, I guess....... I hope you don't have a daughter....

You really think a rapist is counting on his victim to be 'embarrassed' to not call for help or wanting to press charges against him? What planet did you come from, Fiddler?

FYI, rapists/sexual predators have much more serious problems than just forgetting their 'civilized manners' and yes, these "'jerks' do feel very much 'ok' about their bad behavior"..... and no! Sluts or sluttish looking women aren't anymore 'assertive' than the women who don't want to look like sluts! I can't believe this silly tripe.....

Ummm ... Fiddler .... has it dawned on you yet that Paris Hilton and the rest of these celebrities has BODY GUARDS to protect them from 'the jerks who don't have civilized manners'??

Are these gals going to join the "Slut Walk"?

If a woman dresses like a slut, I'm going to assume she wants people to know that shes a slut.

^Smart left winger here. Whether or not we are aware of it, we ALL teach others how to react to us and how to treat us. I have no problem with women dressing slutty. I enjoy the eye candy. And while women are certainly NOT asking to be raped by dressing in such a way, they can't get offended at guys like me (see my signature) treating them like sex objects because of how they are dressed. That is how they are presenting themselves.

This whole protest seems silly and juvenile. As others have stated in this thread, no sane person thinks a woman deserves to be raped because of what she is wearing. In fact, no sane person thinks a women ever deserves to be raped. Rape is (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up. I might even argue that we as a country joke about it too much to the point where we're desensitized to how serious it really is.

Unlike abortion, rape is a legitimate women's rights issue that EVERYONE should be concerned about.

Just because it is being advertised does not mean you have a right to steal it

Who's stealing it? I just agreed that rape is wrong. I simply treat women like they want sex if they are dressed like they want sex. If they don't, they'll let me know. And I'll respect that. But 9 times out of 10, they want it.

ROTF...so if I dress in loose jeans and a turtle neck I am not assertive and more likely to be a victim?

and my guess you don't even see the irony of you judging by how someone is dressed when complaining that women dressed slutty are not respected...

no one said their behaviour was 'correct' but that there is a cause and effect, something you seem to agree with considering your speech here about slutty clothes empowering women. It is a fact that people judge and treat people in a manner affected by the clothing that is worn.

people dressed in suits and ties are treated differently than the hip hop teenagers wearing pants off their butts and their gangsta chains...a person in a US military uniform is treated differently than a man dressed in a Mr Peanut costume...these are facts, and you aren't going to change them no matter how many little parades you hold where you run around naked, protected by the police and your male friends and numbers...

you DO realize that these people don't dress like this to go to the grocery store? they are entertainers, it is their job to dress like this at events, they have a sense of time and place, and they have NOTHING to do with this conversation.

This guy is a rabid antifeminist but he DOES know the GLBTEIEO community, so I would take his reporting as being truthful (and easily verified)

    http://www.the-spearhead.com/2011/07/25/how-many-lesbian-parades-does-portland-need/

in the article, he gives the websites and information about the three women, all Lesbians, all involved in the sex trade or pornography, that organized the walk.

as he points out, these walks are just another GLBTEIEIO propaganda opportunity...

    Depends.

Is the woman IS 'sophisticated and classy', that usually comes across no matter WHAT she wears. (My examples of women well rewarded for appearing slutty" were chosen because they definitely ARE NOT 'sophisticated and classy' Who is? Try Racquel Welch! Pic below...)

    Yes.

And historically few did. Even with the reforms we have instituted in the last few decades (the first rape crisis center came into existence in the 1970s), women often go through hell and fight many battles to even report a rape.

    http://www.cmaj.ca/content/162/5/659.full.pdf
Certainly plenty of conservative-dressed women are quite assertive. But MOST provocatively-dressed women are assertive or become assertive to simply survive the constant parade of egotistical jerks who think they have a right to them.

Certainly. I have been a bodyguard for such persons, mostly performers, myself. Many dressed hot simply for their business purposes.

And I tell you, my distaste for so many men became very strong after dealing with all the men who think they have a RIGHT grab or touch or take or simply believed a woman who was attractive and provocatively dressed should be available for their pleasure.

And I had the most distaste for all the men who stood to the side but thought the I was being unfair to the a$$holes for putting the stop to them if the woman couldn't. Most of these women were pretty good dealing with them.

this cracks me up...they become assertive to survive...well if they feel that put upon about the whole situation, maybe they need some jeans and a turtleneck...

here is a comment about the slutwalk that I think sums it up very well:

And of course, once again we see women proudly proclaiming that they are strong, independent, “smart” and absolutely free of any responsibility for the results of their own actions.

What action? This is no differeny from saying people shouldt be suprised when they get a gun in the face and robbed while driving an expensive car or living in a big house.

"Just buy a used crap model and live in a dump and you will probably be safe".

9/11? Well the USA shouldnt have been involved in the middle east

well if someone is robbed because he is driving a Jaguar instead of a 88 Ford, wouldn't you say that he was robbed BECAUSE he was driving a Jaguar?

it is a strawman argument, NO ONE has said anyone 'deserved' to get raped...ALL anyone is saying is that women CAN take actions to minimize the possibility of being raped...they can protect themselves.

It is my right to go out and yank the bulls tail...but I know he might turn around and gore me (ok stomp me, our bull doesnt' HAVE horns)..but you get the picture. I wouldn't 'deserve' to get stomped to death for just yanking his tail but it would be the result of my OWN actions, actions I knew were provocative and chose to do anyway. it wouldn't be my husbands fault..it SURE as heck wouldnt' be the fault of ALL the bulls in the world.

and that's what these women are claiming...that the results of THEIR actions are the fault of every man on the planet, not just the rapists, they lump all men together under this cloud of criminality...

You wouldnt say to him "drive a beat up used toyota"

Like people can take actions against being abducted for money: give away your money.

The fault is at the person doing the crimes NOT at the person undergoing them, he is the victim. No matter how fancy a car he drives or how deep that cleavage is.

You of course forget you dont jank anything you just dress or drive a car. If that is already enough provocation for some, while other seem to agree there is a serious problem.

People who cant control themselves shouldnt be free.

BS they simply react to someone laying part of the blame with the victim.

Again nobody comments this when someone gets almost killed in a robbery drving a ferrari . If anyone would dare say "buy a hundai" he would get sorned for it.
