Actually looks pretty good to me, Mary!! *wipes lip prints off monitor*

Just went upstairs to a lady's retirement party thinking there might be cake... and there was. But there were also about 50 people making testimonials and we decided one lousy cupcake wasn't worth sitting thru all that mush.

Now I'm dying for something sweet.

OMG! Breakfast done outside is the best breakfast evah!
I love camping just so I can have the breakfast!
(I think I just found a new screensaver too - hehehe)

@Cen - you come on over to Tejas -- Smartz and I will show you what real bbq tastes like...tough ole brisket smoked so tender it falls apart and needs no sauce to curl your toes.
Links smoked to perfection, crusty outside, juicy inside. yum, yum.

@ you Texans - who eats "Earl Campbell's Hot Links"?
who knows who Earl Campbell is?

DUBLIN (CBSDFW.COM) - After a long legal battle, the doctor has ordered a halt to production of a distinct Dr Pepper product known to Texans as ‘Dublin’ Dr Pepper.

On Tuesday Plano-based Dr Pepper Snapple Group announced they had purchased the sales and distribution rights from Dr Pepper Bottling Company of Dublin.

That company had been making a cane sugar version of the popular soft drink for years from their Erath County facility. (My family is a Welsh-Irish-Norwegian-Native mix from Erath County)

Over the years relations between the bottler and Dr Pepper Snapple Group had become strained over their use of trademarks and sales outside of a 6-county territory around Central Texas.

The bottling company, which changed their name to Dublin Bottle Works, was the oldest Dr Pepper producer still in operation. A press release from Dr Pepper Snapple Group says the Dublin plant will stay open, along with a soda shop and museum that has been part of the facility.

In the release Dr Pepper Snapple Group said a cane sugar-based variation of Dr Pepper would still be available across Texas.

Business owners near the plant are worried the move will mean a drop in summer business. Miles Gillman owns Granny Clark’s Restaurant nearby and says taking Dublin Dr Pepper off the shelves will hurt the town. “To Dublin, Dublin Dr Pepper was like Wal Mart is to the rest of America. You never imagine it going away.”

The plant said because of the changes 14 people would be losing their jobs.
Dr Pepper Snapple says it will still support the community, and the mayor of Dublin says she looks forward to working with the new Dublin Bottling Works and Dr Pepper Snapple to maintain tourism.

@Cen - don't you worry now....you come straight on here to Austin...we love purple hair...and green, red, with feathers, leather or beads, whatever. Last steak I had over at the Steakhouse was served by a kid with red, white and blue-black hair.

But I'm with Smartie, what's in the lil tin?

@Smartie - Any Earl's will do for me...them hot ones are plumb yummy!
............................I know you know who Earl is....

Oh yeah, I forgot you're in Texas' version of liberalville. Folks who DON'T have purple hair are more likely to stand out on Sixth Street. He'll be fine.

Earl Campbell... there's a lotta history behind those yummy hot links. ;)

First, is that you? If so, your cute, even with purple hair. BUT, it does in fact look like you/or whoever that is, that are going to eat charcoal or burned round thingys. And secondly, I love that wolf in your avatar.

Hey, Cen's not tattoo'ed up like a Polynesian, he won't even get a second look.

    I mean...it's not like he's LizardMan
    [IMG]
yes, he totally caught me off guard the first time I saw him. lol

You can't be a Texas football fan and not appreciate Earl. Considering the price he paid, it is very comforting to know that he has developed a successful business and will never be one of those players who finds themselves broken and broke.

Never seen him around but I sure would like to shake his hand...he's always on the bbq menu...it ain't done until the Campbells come off. ohyea!

Good morning all. Are we ready for the weekend? Well being retired, every day is a weekend for me. But I must admit that sometimes it can be a little boring. Anyway, on to breakfast. This morning it is french toast with scrambled eggs and bacon. And of course 100% pure maple syrup. So dig in and enjoy. Have a great weekend all.

Bacon and Suasages - it's about all you really can cook on them! Those disposable BBQs are the only cooking things allowed in the festival campsite (apart from the little solid fuel stoves, which are pretty useless, and quite expensive). It's like that for a good reason though. That picture was taken not long after we arrived, and we were there early. Later on it looks more like this:
And it gets more packed than that. A campsite fire in that lot (especially if it's windy, which it often is) would be seriously bad news, so they are pretty hard on any kind of open fire, and banned the camping gas stoves a couple of years back (which I used to use) because of the fire risks (and that was fully justified, too - very drunk people and gas cooking don't mix - I've seen near disasters a couple of times with drunk idiots taking stupid risks with them, and endangering themselves and others).

I use the little BBQ for bacon and sausage sandwiches for breakfast and at the end of the day, and other than that eat from the many fine food establisments on site (and I don't mean that sarcastically - the days of nothing but 'grease-burgers' at the festival are long gone, and there's a huge variety of great food available, and at reasonable prices that are capped by the festival bosses to stop anyone vendors exploiting the captive (and largely drunk!) audience.
