The states have reached the outer, jagged edge of not over-reacting. Any further, and they have.

The -real- overreaction comes from the media, who has an agenda to push.

 

Yep, the media has been extremely irresponsible with this. We don't need every news site covered top to bottom with nothing but doom, gloom, and panic. Give us one good informative article, that'll do thanks.

The people who ARE overreacting to the WuFlu?

 

Everyone's freaking out over nothing.

Yes, the stock market has lost 25% of its value in two weeks, the country is heading towards a recession worse than 2008, the deficit will take at least 10 years to pay off and the unemployment rate could reach the incredible figure of 20%, but our President still has time to lie down in his tanning bed each day.




So everything's gonna be okay.

 

Trump and his task force are pushing this hard, could they be wrong, possibly, but really no one knows and probably never will as we can not play out both scenarios side by side

 

I see the media has been effective.

Corona is like catnip to the media.

They get to: 1) fill air time, and 2) bash Trump (no matter how good Trump does).

 

3) The useful idiots lap it up, spread it around, and ask for more.

 

I think spreading panic, "trumps," their need for, "Trump-bashing." They are indeed in their element.

 

...and the unseemly and frustrated will to power behind it.

You could almost make me cry if I didn't know that Trumpsters and their beloved President are among the worst hatemongers in the West.

 

Im not paying to read an NYT article. Yes, we are overreacting.

 

Most nations are responding as we are . And I doubt other nations are as dismissive as American cons and doubt other nations are blaming their president as our dems are .

All that I see on both sides is stupid partisanship.

 

Of course Americans are overreacting. Overreacting is one of the things Americans as a whole do best.

 

The job of the press is to provide accurate up to date info. Not to be click baiters. But the so called press and the lack of real journalists has corrupted a most important institution .

Govt should step in and regulate these profit driven bastards For they have become irresponsible. They will not self police no more than wall street will.

The waves of deregs has hurt America and created faux journalism and a corrupted press .

Granted you can over regulate and many times this is driven by a big corp buying regs to crush competition

The regs of media helped to keep partisanship out of the news so this country would not be so hatefully divisive. The hateful division arose when deregs gave us right wing and left wing news that are biased editorials masquerading as news.

Deregs also concentrated the information sources iinto the hands of 6 huge corps.. Who will act in their own profit driven self interests . And political bbias .

With a trio of receivers that exemplify speed, size and experience to the likes of Kirk, Hopkins and Fitzgerald sophomore QB Kyler Murray should have a field day this upcoming year. Now, if only we could get Bidwell to open up his pocketbook a little more and pick up Jadeveon Clowney the Cards will look mighty impressive.

But how akin is this virus to the 1918 Spanish pandemic that originated in Kansas?

The mortality rate for Wuhan Coronavirus is 3.4% globally.

The Spanish Flu of 1918 estimated by WHO as between 2 and 3%.

Is Covid as contagious as the Spanish Flu? Covid with a (contagion rate) R0 of 2.2 is more infectious than the 1918 influenza pandemic virus, which had an R0 of 1.80.
