The problem here is attempting to reduce these two people to black and white, this or that, Like all such acts it is much more complicated than that. Although what you've posted is true in my book, the cleanest truth is that UNLIKE ANY OTHER GROUP OF ANY KIND ON EARTH, a significant percentage of all Muslims are doing what they believe their most holy prophet, Muhammad, would have them do.

To make Islam dominant over all other religions on Earth. To attack (using any means necessary, violent and non-violent Jihad) anyone and any government that does not behave the way proscribed in the Koran. Attack them until they are dead or convert to Islam or surrender to Islamic authority and pay a Jizya tax.

You can't compare Islam to ANY other group.

It is totally unique.

It is not a religion as we think of religions.

It is not a form of government as we think of the more familiar forms of government.

In an attempt to make sense of Islam we try to pigeon hole Islam into OUR concept of religion or form of government but it just won't neatly fit into those models. We still don't see it clearly enough to even begin to protect ourselves from it.

If ANYTHING good can possibly come from everything involved in the Boston Marathon terrorist attack and shootout incident I hope it is to give Americans a chance to reconsider their perception of Islam and what baggage comes along with a greater Muslim presence in the U.S.

Well, based upon the revision to the Pledge of Allegiance modified in the 1950's to include "one Nation under God" all of the killings by the US military are arguably based upon a religious belief as the belief in god is a religious belief.
