This one was, obviously, not Assad's job. Why would he:
1)launch an attack against civilians in the first place?
2)do it, when he is already close to victory?
3)do it, when UN experts have arrived?

If chemical weapons were used, I expect it will be the head-chopping flesh-eating ''rebels'' that used them, just like they did before.

It makes no sense that after having completed negotiations with the UN to get chemical weapons inspectors into the country, and them having finally arrived, and with the regime forces now gaining ground, that they would pick this moment to launch a large chemical weapon attack.

Whereas it makes complete sense that when Obama announced his ''red line'' for military intervention as being Assad using chemical weapons, that the rebels would have realised it would be in their interests to get hold of some, use them, then blame it on Assad.

I don't think for a moment that our politicians don't suspect the ''rebels'' of having used chemical weapons, but then telling the truth isn't what politicians usually do.

The use of chemical weapons in Syria would constitute a “crime against humanity,” UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has said, adding that there will be “serious consequences” if the reports transpire to be true.

"Any use of chemical weapons anywhere, by anybody, under any circumstances, would violate international law," Ban said at a scheduled event in the South Korean capital of Seoul on Friday. "Such a crime against humanity should result in serious consequences for the perpetrator," he added.

UNLESS, OF COURSE, IT IS USED FOR DEMOCRACY!
Why doesn't the UN prosecute US officials that supplied poison gas to Iraq?

Litwin - thank you for that video - I cant find words to express my personal pain abt what's happening in Syria - While briefly based in Beirut 1978-79 I had the the opportunity to visit several towns/cities now ruined/in chaos / destroyed.

All anyone with goodwill can hope for , is that this current wave of shear lunacy come to end and that the people can be assisted to reconstruct Syria.

VIVA - SYREE-A.

May the Gods once again restore PEACE to that beautiful land and its people.

Most of the time you will get an honest view from the Vatican or Evangelicals since they have people in the field. I know Pat Robertson was the only one who was adamantly against the war in Kosovo.

I agree - however , I would go as far as saying/ or thinking - it to be most of the time

On the other hand most of what I've heard abt "Evangelicals" they score no better that Jewish + Islamic extremists. They're can be best described/,dismissed as screwballs.

Having said that , even screwballs like Pat Robertson , can on rare occasions be right.

Indeed he is.
Situation in 3 major cities for now:
Red is for GG, Green is for wahhabists.
Damascus:
Aleppo:

Homs:
Orange for GG, violet for islamists.

So, as you see most of Damascus (3/4), with the exception of eastern outskirts, and Homs(5/6), with the exception of North-West, are under government control. Allepo is mostly controlled by militants' forces (2/3), my best guess is for Turkey doing it's best to support them, since the border is under their control.

Red-government
Green-islamists
Yellow-Kurds
[IMG]
As for now, most of country's main population centers are under government control, excepting Aleppo and border with Turkey.

AFAI can tell - its NOT only a matter of how much is within the legitmate govt's control , more important is the wishes of Syrian people , which I'm sure are for the return to Law and order and an end to the current destructive forces/ bloody minded terrorists , using religion as their main weapon.

While the Assad -/Baathist regime might not have come upto Western standard s of " democracy " it has for many decades ensured personal security + a reasonable standard of living for the overwhelming MAJORITY of Syria's population. without US taxpayers aid - unlike Israel.

Sadly , the living standards of the majority is now considerably worse , and very likelyn to continue being so for decades to come. One can ask - whose interest does it serve , which neighbouring . state stands to gain most from the miserable conditions in Syria.

???

One can only quess what this had to do with Syria's legitimate claim to Golan Heights which is still illegally under Israel's military occupation. ????

You are assuming a lot with any facts. If this is fake, it will be found out. If the UN gets into the site and finds it is not, then whoever perpetrated this will be held accountable. Just wait before calling something "fake."
