The 2018 midterms have come and gone, and Ted Cruz won his hard fought battle against Robert O'Rourke. Why did Cruz struggle so much?? He won by a few percentage points, sure - but that was a close call! Ted Cruz almost lost Texas!

A senator since 2013, in a state that's been reliably red for twenty five year, TEXAS! Ted Cruz nearly lost his senate race in Texas! Was it the blue wave? The fact that his opponent spent double as much? Or maybe illegal immigration?

Whatever the reason, here's the bottom line: The Democrats almost flipped Texas. Texas almost went blue. #TedCruz nearly lost the race! #Texas nearly went to the democrats. That was a tough race, but in the end, Ted Cruz pulled the win out of his hat! Great job!

Not really, although it's true a great candidate in Beto O'Rouke came close to upsetting a poor candidate in Ted Cruz. Now for Governor, Republican Abbott won by 14 points. Also republicans won every statewide office in Texas. Don't let a close senate race equate to a flip. Winning a single statewide race doesn't equate to flipping that state from red to blue or vice versa.

It's like saying Montana is now a blue state because a Democratic senator won there. Maryland has a Republican governor, but that doesn't mean Maryland is a red state or Joe Manchin's senate win has flipped West Virginia from a red state into a blue state.

I hate when people, for partisan reasons, will literally try to change the definition of a word or a term in order to fit their agenda.

Ted Cruz almost lost, that is it as to "Going Blue".

Not to mention how much freakin money came in to the Progressive candidate.

Funniest thing about the last couple years, is we have seen that money is NOT the leading factor in elections.

Clinton and now Beto (and several others) absolutely dominated the Republicans in money raised.

But people don't seem to care, which seems to destroy the idea that money is ruining politics completely. While I think money does have way too much influence, and taht can be seen in this race since every other race went DEEP RED. It is not the end all be all that we have heard over and over

Wouldn't it be cool if Trump picked Cruz to be his AG? It would allow Abbot to appoint a replacement Senator for a 6 year term. TX could fix their Ted problem with one confirmation hearing.....

Eventually, Texas will go blue. Demography is destiny and eventually Democratic voters will outnumber Republican ones.

I'm surprised that Texas didn't go blue. Cruz should be thankful.

Have you guys been to Austin? It's like the new hippie capital of the world

Interesting article on this very subject...

Identity Politics is Interested in You

On Tuesday night, Ted Cruz, conservative Senator extraordinaire, kept his Senate seat by the skin of his teeth in Texas, the traditional stronghold of Republican power. The exit polling data reveals why.

Cruz absolutely crushed the white vote 68 percent to O’Rourke’s 31 percent. Had this election taken place in 1940 when Latinos made up around 10 percent of the Texas population and whites around 75 percent, Cruz would have decimated O’Rourke at the polls. But this election took place in 2018 when non-Hispanic whites make up only 60 percent of voters.

As it was, Cruz survived with only 51 percent of the vote. By 2024 when Cruz comes up for election once again, Hispanics will have surpassed whites as the largest ethnic group in Texas. There is no indication that a majority of Latino voters in Texas (or anywhere else for that matter) support limited government, constitutional conservatism, stronger borders, and gun rights. If they did, Cruz would have won them in droves. He did not.

They say TX is 40% Hispanic.

Can you imagine the dems taking control of TX...there goes your guns! And it is not question of if, it is only a question of when.

    See:

Mexico is working on reclaiming their territory that the US had taken from them.

Jeebus, willya stop with this Reconquista bullshit? If the Hispanics want anything to be done in that regard they would want us to annex Mexico. If they liked Mexico they would have stayed there.

Also, Hispanic Americans love being armed as much as any of us. I think that not many of them have been armed madmen

Yeah, just a few more caravans and Texas will be blue.

So.......those of us in the know have been predicting this for 20 years.

Hello? Anybody out there paying attention to the destruction of America?

The Democrats have been discussing this issue (publicly) since 2002. So they recognize mass immigration of uneducated, unskilled, third worlders as their best bet to maintaining a permanent hegemony.

And they were right. Too late to do much about it now.

Beto enjoyed a massive amount of funding from the DNC so that he outspent Ted five to one and yet Ted still managed to easily beat Beto; and so, no, Texas is not going blue; not any time soon anyway. Texas, by the way, does occasionally elect Dem Party governors and mayors and what not. Beto simply wasn't good enough to beat Ted; and not even with the DNC outright trying to BUY . . . Texas.

It's a sad reality that as California becomes unlivable due to liberal policies peeople flee it and bring that same liberal mindset with them. It's kind of like proponents of communism that claim it will work somewhere someday if it's done correctly. Liberals leave California but stay liberal in the hopes that this time in their new state their liberal policies will somehow magically work.

The caravans will never make Texas blue.

The Texan-Hispanic long-time community is making Texas blue, and, thus, a better America.

Complacency of Americans is what has destroyed America. And the infiltration of communist back in the 1950s into our political, financial and especially educational system's.
Plus the loss of millions of our patriots in past 100 years of continuos wars.
