Hilarous..the thread Leftninies are now ALL "Young Earthers", apparently. Who knew?

Rstones and Colonel K BOTH argue that the Earth is around 4,000 years old. I'll be sure to remind them of that , from here on out....

    I enjoyed the show

By the way in case it was not mentioned where the light came from. The light comes from God, he (she, it, what ever) radiated light. For instance hell is realy only horrible because you are denide the light of God.

Of course that is only if you believe the the Bible is a literal history which I and the Orthodox Church does not.

According to Genesis, Light was created on Day One, the Sun and other heavenly bodies on Day Four.

Interpret as you choose, but it SAYS what it says....and the age of the Earth is NOT mentioned.

Yes but the point I am making is that God has light without a sun. He created from himself like all things. A formless nothing that God used to create everything. But the Bible is not a history or science text book. It is a guide to help us understand out place in the universe and Gods plan for us all.

I am sad I missed this.I watched 'The Vikings' which was pretty good.

I'll look forward to watching this on the History Channel.

It's about time they started making media relevant to history!

The first step to converting the masses is to apeal to the masses.

Puts it ahead of 60 minutes, Walking Dead, etc.

It is often hard to appeal to the dumb masses...

Like a false promise of eternal life?

Or if you disobey, the promise of hell for eternity?

When we posit an omnipotent (all powerful) creator/sustainer behind all that exists, then logic, reason, and all our understanding of observable phenomena can no longer be brought to bear upon the veracity of anything that this being may have done, is doing, or will do. That being is beyond scrutiny since He/She/It can do ANYTHING - by definition - which is rather convenient for the believer. The unbeliever's best course of action is to realize this fact and not waste time and effort trying to convince anyone of anything to the contrary. It won't work. The believer can always fall back on the concept that "with God, nothing is impossible". And in the final analysis, even appealing to the likelihood of such and such being true or false eventually falls victim to the mind's ability to justify anything based on the omnipotence factor. And that's NOT to say that there really doesn't (or does) exist such an omnipotent being. It's merely a description of what the omnipotence factor brings along with it and how it affects our abilities or inabilities to deal rationally with the consequences of positing the notion.

Like always making claims you cannot support? Please provide proof that the soul does not live on, after the body dies.

You can find it in the same place you made up the Bible stating the age of the Earth.

But again it's a religious text and the primary message of its creation story is not chronology. The way I read it, it starts off with the foundations of life: light, water, and soil that produces life-sustaining plants. That's the first three days. The next three days we get the sun to rule the heavens by day, the moon to rule them by night; we get birds and fish to fill and rule the sky and seas; and finally beasts, and the pinnacle of creation, man, to fill the earth and rule over all the rest of it. The significance is in not in the order of the sun in relation to plants; the significance is in the order of sun, then birds and fish, then beasts and man. Because it's a religious text.

Sorry; I thought you were alluding that we can claim immunity from our choices because God is omnipotent, therefore the source of our choices. My bad.

You mean even more popular than dreams of my father, written by the self proclaimed God himself?
