We are a democratic republic.

 

We are not a democracy, that's little more than mob rule. We have a representative republic. Not sure why people don't seem to understand the basics of our government these days...

 

So we don't vote.

 

That would be great if the USA was a democracy.

We should have a trade off, we will get rid of the EC if people in Alabama can vote in Nancy Pelosi or Maxine Waters elections and for govenor of california.

You vote to decide your representatives, you do not vote to influence the day to day working of the government or individual bills. If you don't know these things, what is it you think you are actually voting for?

1. How is religion being removed from schools tyranny of the minority. Religion SHOULDNT be in schools and taught as if its fact(for public schools). The School/Teachers shouldnt be leading in religious acts and practices.
2. Is giving the same legal rights and status as "traditional" marriage a threat somehow on those type of marriages, who gives a ****, does that seriously effect your life to such a degree that its Tyranny

 

I’ll be more than happy to explain to you why you’re wrong on both counts but that’s not the point.

The point is that BOTH of those policies were in direct contrast to what the will of the majority wanted and yet the left and their followers enthusiastically support violating the will of the majority when it’s in regards to policy they support and have the audacity to cry about it and how unfair it is when the tyranny of the minority doesn’t go their way.

No we are not. We are a constitutional republic with democratic principles.That does NOT make us a democracy.

And for the record you don’t want us to be a democracy. Blacks and women never would have gained civil rights. Gays couldn’t marry. School would be inundated with religion and burning the flag would result in you getting your ass handed to you with no consequences for the person who did it.

If we were a democracy and we had one more person than your side has, we could take away the right to vote for everyone on your side. And there’s nothing you could do about it.

For years the court was dominated by Justices who were activists and were making law instead of upholding the law. You'll thought that was fine. Why don't you really read the Constitution and get a dictionary so you can understand the words. You might find we don't live in a Country ruled by majority rule. We live in a Republic.
