Trump campaign insider recounts failed hunt for 2020 fraud in new book

The December 2020 claim of voter fraud was explosive, if true: More than 700,000 people had voted twice in Wisconsin, the tip alleged.

But when a highly paid expert for Donald Trump’s campaign began to study the claim at the behest of a Trump lawyer, he quickly realized that not only was it false, it had also traveled a surprisingly twisted path before landing in his inbox.

The expert, Ken Block, learned it had first appeared in a post on a website called TheDonald.win, where it was spotted by the owner of an IT company, who brought it to the attention of the general manager of Trump’s golf course in the Bronx.

The golf executive forwarded the tip to the president’s son, Eric, who passed it along to the lawyer. At last, the lawyer, Alex Cannon, directed the wild Wisconsin claim to Block, a software engineer and former politician from Rhode Island who was hired by the campaign shortly after the 2020 election.

The great unraveling continues in earnest.

At an event with pro-Putin autocrat Orban in attendance Trump said of him, "There's nobody who is better, smarter, or a better leader than Viktor. He's not controversial, he says the way it's going to be and that's the end of it."

    Oh how he envies dictators.

Do I have to say hosting a pro-Putin autocrat, and complimenting him, is not what someone who is running for prez can normally get away with. Because his supporters normally wouldn't stand for it. But cult leaders can.

Former advisers sound the alarm that Trump praises despots in private and on the campaign trail

To Donald Trump, Hungarian strongman Viktor Orbán is “fantastic,” Chinese leader Xi Jinping is “brilliant,” North Korea’s Kim Jong Un is “an OK guy,” and, most alarmingly, he allegedly said Adolf Hitler “did some good things,” a worldview that would reverse decades-old US foreign policy in a second term should he win November’s presidential election, multiple former senior advisers told CNN.

“He thought Putin was an OK guy and Kim was an OK guy — that we had pushed North Korea into a corner,” retired Gen. John Kelly, who served as Trump’s chief of staff, told me. “To him, it was like we were goading these guys. ‘If we didn’t have NATO, then Putin wouldn’t be doing these things.’”

Trump’s lavish praise for Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán while hosting him at Mar-a-Lago on Friday, just days after all but sealing the Republican nomination on Super Tuesday, shows it’s a worldview he’s doubling down o
“There’s nobody that’s better, smarter or a better leader than Viktor Orbán,” Trump said, adding, “He’s the boss and he’s a great leader, fantastic leader. In Europe and around the world, they respect him.”

No there is not. That is very concerning as they are giving him permission to do whatever he wants. Given his desire to emulate dictators , the red flags are there.

mp campaign insider recounts failed hunt for 2020 fraud in new book

Ken Block, an expert hired by the campaign, writes that he shot down false claim after false claim in an election that was not stolen. Emails from 2020 reviewed by The Washington Post show one tip was routed to the campaign via the manager of one of Donald Trump's golf clubs.

    E. Jean Carroll lawyer suggests third Trump defamation lawsuit possible after new comments

Donald Trump on Monday once again denied allegations by writer E. Jean Carroll that he raped and defamed her, despite facing nearly $90 million in civil penalties for making similar statements about the writer.

Carroll’s attorney quickly responded that the writer’s legal team is closely monitoring Trump’s latest remarks about her — and suggested that a third defamation lawsuit could be in store for the former president.

Trump in an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” said that several civil court judgments against him in New York — two of them in Carroll’s favor — will cause companies to leave the state.

Trump, on eve of fundraiser with Anheuser-Busch lobbyist, defends company

Former President Donald Trump offered an olive branch to Anheuser-Busch on Tuesday, issuing a post on his social media platform calling on conservatives to drop their opposition to the besieged beer company.

“The Bud Light ad was a mistake of epic proportions, and for that a very big price was paid, but Anheuser-Busch is not a Woke company,” Trump wrote. “Anheuser-Busch is a Great American Brand that perhaps deserves a Second Chance? What do you think? Perhaps, instead, we should be going after those companies that are looking to DESTROY AMERICA!”

Trump’s post on Truth Social represents a major attempt at deescalation in a long-simmering feud between the political movement the former president leads and the mega corporation since April 2023, when it came under fire for a sponsored post with a transgender influencer.

Trump’s message also comes as a top Republican lobbyist for the company is set to host a fundraiser for the former president next month, with some tickets going at $10,000 each.

Next time a company is boycotted it will know what to do. Give Trump some payoff money.

‘Trump Employee 5,’ who unknowingly helped move classified documents, speaks out

    CNN —
A longtime Mar-a-Lago employee who is a central witness in the investigation into former President Donald Trump’s handling of classified documents is now speaking publicly because he believes that voters should hear the truth about his former boss and the case before the November election. (just in case Trump is successful in getting his lackey, Judge Cannon, to delay the case)

Brian Butler, who is referenced as “Trump Employee 5” in the classified documents indictment brought by special counsel Jack Smith, told CNN in an exclusive interview that he doesn’t believe the criminal case against Trump is a “witch hunt,” as the former president has claimed.

Butler gave testimony to federal investigators that informed crucial portions of last year’s criminal obstruction charges against Trump and his two co-defendants, Walt Nauta, a personal aide to Trump, and Carlos De Oliveira, a property manager at Mar-a-Lago who had been Butler’s closest friend until recently.

He was on the Source with Kaitlyn Collins. Certainly confirmed a fair bit about how "casual" the documents were treated ( actually, quite recklessly )

The facts of the case do not favor Trump. Hence why Repubs rejoiced when SC Hur released his hit job report.

But a transcript obtained Tuesday by The Hill paints a more fulsome picture of the exchange between Biden and Hur during an interview last October. The transcript showed it was Biden who first brought up his son. It also showed Biden recalled the exact date of Beau’s death, though aides interjected to note the year it occurred.

He made public comments that could prejudice a jury.

This interview might excite the anti-Trumpers, but it doesn't hurt Trump like you think.

By itself, maybe, maybe not. But added to all the other situations... it compounds the damage. But it won't make a dent in his followers thinking. No matter what is revealed, they just get more hardened in their support of this shyster.

I saw the IV and thought he was pretty careful in WHAT he said and HOW he said it. Also....( and this is my own subjective assessment) he did not seem all that bright. Anyone that can allow themselves to work in such a servitude position , yes man, for that long .....??? In fact, I didn't find it all that informative or earth shattering.

Trump was informed of prohibited items in Jan. 6 rally crowd, his driver testified

The head of Donald Trump’s Secret Service detail informed an agitated president on Jan. 6, 2021, that large groups of people had been denied entry to his rally that day because they were carrying prohibited items, the driver of his presidential SUV told congressional investigators, according to a transcript reviewed by POLITICO.

The testimony is further evidence that Trump was aware of potential security risks in the crowd, even before the mob had breached the Capitol.

Judge tosses six charges in Trump Georgia indictment

The state judge presiding over Donald Trump’s criminal case in Georgia has thrown out six of the indictment’s 41 charges, ruling that the state had failed to make specific enough allegations to support them.

The ruling affects three of the 13 felony counts Trump faces in the case, though not the central charge of a racketeering conspiracy aimed at overturning the results of the 2020 presidential election in the state. Several of the dismissed counts do not involve Trump but instead apply to some of his most prominent co-defendants, including Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman and Mark Meadows.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2024/...-charges-in-trump-georgia-indictment-00146713

Does it affect the essence of the case? No.

Anatomy of a Conspiracy Theory and a Smear: Still, No Evidence of Trump Order for 10,000 Guard on January 6th

Former President Donald Trump and his loyalists have long claimed that he “ordered” the National Guard to be ready for deployment on Jan. 6, 2021. “As many as 10,000 National Guard troops were told to be on the ready by the secretary of defense,” Mark Meadows, Trump’s White House Chief of Staff, claimed during a Fox News interview just one month after the attack. “That was a direct order from President Trump,” Meadows said. The implication was clear: President Trump did not deserve blame for the violence that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol because he wanted the National Guard to keep the peace.

There’s just one problem: The claim is not true.

The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the U.S. Capitol thoroughly investigated this issue — questioning multiple witnesses about it and reviewing countless documents. The committee could not find any evidence to support Meadows’ claim. Indeed, Trump’s Acting Secretary of Defense at the time, Chris Miller, directly refuted it in his testimony under oath– explaining that the president did not issue any such order.

    https://www.justsecurity.org/93316/...f-trump-order-for-10000-guard-on-january-6th/

    Another lie shattered.

    Question.
When you vote in the Presidential elections do you vote for the man or the party? I don't mean in the legal sense, but in the method you use to decide?
I.E are you voting Trump/ Biden. Or GOP/ DEM.

I vote for the person who is in favor of policy positions I favor unless there are extenuating circumstances like moral bankruptcy, criminal behavior, or a prior record of failure and incompetence.

Trump is the first person in the history of the world to pull off a mass disinformation campaign in an open society with a highly pluralistic media environment. He does not have the advantages Hitler and Mussolini had, being able to totally control messaging to the people.

That's one of the points made during this discussion. Book Talk: Attack from Within: How Disinformation is Sabotaging America - The Just Security Podcast

OTOH, he does have an enormously effective propagandist media ally in Faux.
