Ya see. It's not just Christians that are anti-gay, it's them dang Mooslims too.

Well, actually it isn't Christians or Muslims. It's religious fundamentalists. Their credo: "God said it, I believe it."

Of course they conveniently ignore those things that "god said" that don't agree with or that contradict their ingrained beliefs.

"Methinks the lady doth protest too much."

They are fun parades, (much more fun than most, actually) but they always seem kind of forced to me, like they are a couple pretending to be lovey-dovey in front of company when they have obviously been fighting and are still angry .

It seems to me like folks putting an internal conflict on display. It might not come across like this if it were not for the mass expression of a group identity based on something that is incidental and beyond the rightful purview of all of society. Sure, I recognize the origins as protest against the sodomy laws, but that is over, and what is left is as stilted as a celebration of being left-handed. I think at least some of the ambivalent reaction to Pride parades is, at its core, not discomfort with homosexuals, but rather a bystander's embarrassment at the marchers forced gaiety (pardon the pun.)

What especially confuses me is the group identity that ties Gay Pride events to politics and other aspects of life, as if sexual preference should automatically determine one's politics, one's fashion sense, etc. The use of the word Family to denote homosexuals as a group is indicative of an assumption of common interests that is not at all assumed in the case of heterosexuals. The LGBT folks I know act as if being a Democrat is part & parcel of being gay, and that gays who voted Republican were traitors. Despite the clear existence of people like a Lutheran Republican, lesbian engineer I know, I have seen incessant crap on news commentary, YouTube, & Facebook that indicates, and sometimes says explicitly that gays are a Democrat voting block. This, combined with Pride events indicates that many homosexuals have bought into the sense that their non-sexual and non-romantic interests and beliefs are determined by who they are attracted to.

When I think about all the things that make up a human life and an individual's identity, it seems not just illogical, but patently bizarre to tie it all into one bundle, and then have a parade about it.

Like I said, it seems kind of forced.

If you read carefully, the studies in no way indicated that sexual preference is like choosing veganism.

This in no way indicates that there is a conscious choice, as in becoming vegan. This statement demonstrates that unchosen factors could potentially affect sexual orientation (e.g., imprinting). It also means that heterosexuality is not "an innate, biologically fixed human property."

Personally, I do not remember ever deciding to be attracted to girls. It just happened, unbidden, that I thought about girls differently than boys.

Even within the heterosexual sphere, I cannot remember ever deciding who I would be attracted to. It always just happened to me, without my permission or design. Most often I found myself powerfully drawn, with extremely strong feelings to exactly the wrong woman. Similarly I have found myself sexually uninterested in women preferred by my rational faculties. This is why there are sayings that comment on the little head thinking for the big head.

Did you consciously choose your sexual orientation? How old were you when you decided to be heterosexual, and what factors caused you to choose heterosexuality?

Again, saying it is fluid and changeable does not imply that it is consciously changeable or controllable. It merely says that sexual orientation can change.

Except no one has standing to bring a case back to the Supreme Court, no one can show injury of a same sex marriage.

Like the president-elect said, "It's settled law."

Special privileges, you mean like public accommodation? The same thing the christofacists enjoy? Yeh...

When a protected group begins calling for the freedom to discriminate that group is no longer in need of protection. That you people feel others should be judged while exempting yourself, while typical, shows worlds about your character.

Well, I do see those componets there. But honestly it seems more of a platform for companies and organizations to advertise their acceptance of gay people.

But there is an element to it that I dint know if you'd see unless you were gay. Assuming you're not. It's certainly something we (all people) have been through at some point or another. It's when you feel like an outsider or you are ashamed of something, and you find other people who have learned to live with it or hell even become proud of it. Similar to a comic book or sci fi con. If you look at the beginning of those types of things you will find most people who attend were outcasts. They found a community of like minded people.

Today we see the gay community dissolving and I'm happy to see that because it means we're becoming part of the community we're no longer the outcasts. And maybe one day we will wonder what we are even doing the parade for.

I honestly don't understand this either. My sexual orientation has never influenced my opinions on politics. I have been called the equivalent of a gay uncle Tom on this very board for thinking due process of law takes precedent over emotional outrage.

Again the parade is very bizarre. And the more accepting society becomes of gay people the more bizarre it will become. But there is an element to it still that says to people not to be ashamed of yourself.

The fact that it's more of a festival now will enshrine it's place in our culture. Everybody likes to party.

That and a lot of people go to meet other people.

I think you are mistaken. The constitution was ratified to define government limits. And as citizens our rights don't dissappear because of incidents of our being.

Basically put, I can say it's religious and the burden falls on the state to prove that there is harm caused by my exercising of my first amendment rights.

Is that a bad link or a joke? ACE inhibitors?

And I guess homosexuality is responsible for the millions of gay men that have died of AIDS.

You can mock religion all you want, it just demonstrates bigotry is alive and well and why religion is protected by the Constitution.

If a penis in the mouth or up someones butt is what makes them happy then who am I to object? I couldn't care less what people do as I've said several times. I'm just stating facts.

Well if it's that important, why don't you amend the Constitution to say that homosexuals are special and need special treatment and protection that the rest of us don't get?

You just agreed to the fact that people who perform homosexual acts make a conscious decision to do so.

Freedom of religion is protected by the Constitution, maybe you should read it sometime.

Feel free to disprove the study, name a species that does not engage in homosexual activities.

Promiscuous sex is, indeed. The thing is aids effects the person preforming the action while religion effects others. You wouldn't understand.

All people should be protected, hateful bigots have made me despise people justifying their hate through religion. I will fight for their freedom, christofacists are fighting to remove freedoms. Again, I don't expect you to understand

What facts, all I see is emotional rhetoric

The problem is everyone is already mentioned in the Constitution, no amendment is necessary - and I am not an advocate for special treatment - just equal treatment. Christofacists demand unequal treatment.

Of course it is, you do know the difference between an action and orientation don't you? Smh

Pathetic attempt at a dodge, who is trying to change your religion? Go into specific detail - oh wait, no one is - Freedom of religion does not mean the freedom to impose that religion on others.

To dispise radical Islam so much the christofacists want pretty much the same thing.

No, HIV is. You know millions more straight people die from that right?

He wasn't mocking religion. He was stating facts.

You are also saying other facts are bigotry. See above.

Because they don't want special treatment. They want equal treatment.

Well, stop the presses and alert the corridors of science. Voluntary acts are voluntary. You muddy have studied for years to understand voluntary is the same word as voluntary.

Forbidding the state from respecting the establishment of it is also in the first amendment. Perhaps it is you that should read it.

If pointing out the obvious looks to you like advocating then that's on you. Take my word for it or not. IDK.

If women can do gender select abortions, then there is nothing to stop them from doing sexual orientation select abortions.

What part of bad link do you not understand? There is no study there!

Millions died from homosexuality. Millions more die because of higher drug abuse rates, domestic abuse rates, and suicide rates. Prevention would be a good thing, why would anyone be against it?

All people are protected. Only hateful liberals bigots are seeking to take away rights from Christians to practice their faiths. People obsessed with homosexual sex want to throw it in everyone's face and invade their privacy, and force them to abandon deeply held religious beliefs. Why don't you just leave people alone?

Why don't you read the Constitution? Freedom of religion is ENUMERATED. If you don't know that word, look it up. Homosexuality is not mention once.

It's the liberals who are imposing their religious cult on the rest of us, the Church of Liberalism, complete with obsessive sexual deviant behavior and a human sacrifice abortion rituals and rights. You don't give the rest of the public the option to opt out.

I stand corrected. Nobody has ever died of AIDS. I don't know one straight person that ever died of AIDS. But according to you, nobody ever has. I would guess that there are lots of homosexuals who are ashamed to come out of the closet, I don't know any heterosexuals who have caught HIV. Let's stop pretending that this is not just a disease that is solely caused by the nasty practice of homosexual anal intercourse.

No, he was attacking people of faith which has nothing to do with the subject of this thread. He was deflecting and derailing the subject.

What facts am I saying that are bigotry? See what above?

Oh please? Where have you been the past 30 years? DADT, gays in the military, trannies in women's bathrooms, gay marriage, all the other stupid crap we've heard from the LGBT special interest groups and sex obsessed weirdos.

I'll remember that next time I visit the Quaker State, or Maryland. Really, what religion has the federal or state government established since the founding? Bueller? Bueller?

Ah, I see that my post was deleted by the mods as it was a response to your typical flamebait:
"No species has been found in which homosexual behaviour has not been shown to exist, with the exception of species that never have sex at all, such as sea urchins and aphis. Moreover, a part of the animal kingdom is hermaphroditic, truly bisexual. For them, homosexuality is not an issue." [source]

Religion has killed far more people than any other singular though. Drug abuse and suicide in LGBT youth is decreasing as acceptance is common place.

"Depression and drug use among LGBT people have both been shown to increase significantly after new laws that discriminate against gay people are passed"[/source]

So you are basically saying bigots have destroyed and demeaned gay people to the point they no longer want to live, made them fear for their families, their careers, and kept them from happiness to satisfy your twisted agenda so that means we should just cure gay people!!! Wtf dude? Bigots are the problem

Practice your faith all you want, but you practicing your make believe should not limit the freedoms of others. What do the christofacists gain from denying homosexuals a legal contract? How about kicking them out of the military? Refusing to let them see their dying partner? What do you gain from causing this suffering?

I agree, it's time to leave people alone.

If gay people canny get married because of your religion then you can't have cookies because I'm on a diet. Does that actually make sense to you?

And no is is trying to dictate your religion - your religion can also not dictate to others.

The constitution specifically mentions homosexuals - and all people: life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness

I'm not a liberal - both of the parties do this because they feel their views are superior. Neither gives a damn about freedom or liberty. At least the left kind of admits it.

I am fine with people opting out, don't want to serve a gay wedding fine.
Don't want to serve a christofacists fifth wedding fine.
You are free to turn the tv off when a gay character is on air, same with movies; but you people don't do that, you just whine and moan about have even seeing a gay person infringes on your religion. It's the religious version of safe space that y'all also complain about so adamantly.

But don't hide behind your twisted ideology and believe that others should be forced to serve you when you are calling for open discrimination.

Aids kills more heterosexuals as a percentage of the population worldwide than homosexuals. Think the continent of Africa for making you out to be a liar.

I would never attack people for their belief in a higher power, this is about a minority of Christians (lovingly reffered to as christofacists) who believe they should have the power to dictate others lives.

But please, continue and try to deflect - it's all you have

DADT and not being allowed in the military is equal in your eyes? Not being able to sign a legal contract while everyone else is able is equal?
Short measuring stick you have there

The freedom to have any religion also means the freedom to not have it. It also means the freedom to be free from it.

Well of the 36.7 million people that have HIV/AIDS 1.8 million of them are children who contacted it from their mother in the womb. I don't know how a gay man is involved in that. The vast majority of those infected live in sub saharan Africa. If you are trying to tell me all these people are closeted homosexuals, I'll have to work really hard to stifle my laughter.

The biggest demographic that are newly infected are children in the womb of their mothers. Are you suggesting some HIV infected gay men fly to Africa and impregnate 550,000 women a year?

He stated a fact. Are facts an attack on people of faith?

Cd8ed said that the September eleventh attacks were caused by faithful religious followers. You cried bigotry. It's absolutely true.

Right here watching. Repeal of DADT,and same sex marriage is equality. We have gained that despite the shriking from the religious pseudo right.

None, but that doesn't stop regressive religious socialists from attempting to revise history. Nor does it stop them from making laws for no other reason besides the religious beliefs of the body politic.

It's strange the same people who devote their entire life to the word of a book and the creator yet still believe they are capable of making better choices than him.

Gay men have homosexual sex with other infected gay men then go home to their wives and infect them with HIV. I don't know why you lack simple common sense and reason. The children weren't born with it and the mother didn't get it from a toilet seat.

Yeah, you go ahead and defend bigotry by others. Says a lot about you.

Nope, that is special treatment. There's nothing in the Constitution that says we have to treat homosexuals special. There is nothing in the Constitution that protects people from behavior that is of their own choice.

Spread by homosexual and bisexual men I'm sure. There is no, nor has there ever been a threat to heterosexuals from the HIV virus despite decades of "experts" warning of an epidemic with normal heterosexuals.

Now just gonna try and walk it back a bit?

No, not equal, it's special treatment. Gays shouldn't be in the military because they do not contribute to overall combat readiness and in fact hurt combat efficiency. They don't have to get special redefined marriage because there is no such thing as gay marriage. Now that we've opened up that Pandora's Box, expect men marrying their daughters, brothers marrying their sisters, polygamy, bestiality, pedophilia...anything that is a sexually deviant behavior, that'll be next on the agenda for the LBGTQXRTYADHEJ community.

Must be another person that has never read or informed themselves on American history. This kind of ignorance is inexcusable.

Is the thing about gay men having sex with their wives. Gay men don't do that. Do you know what gay means in this context?

So are the children gay because they have aids or do they have aids because they are gay? And assuming gay men have sex with women...snicker... do the infected women them become gay men?

    Says I accept facts.

We aren't treating homosexuals specially. We started treating them equally.

If a man can serve in the military and be married to a woman and he could serve in the military and be married to a man, that's equal. Also saying they can marry a woman or a man is equal. Making special rules thay says a Persinger can't do this or that because of their sexual orientation is treating them special.

Further why ignore where I said I don't think that science will ever be able to tell us whether a baby is going to be gay or not? Are you dropping that argument? I'd say that is a smart move on your part. If you don't want to be pwned.
