Most Muslims honor and cherish their wives and mothers. I happen to be a conservative Christian who lived in the Middle East for many years.

Our biggest problem in the US is ignorance like you demonstrate.

Good for you you're not a Muslim I never thought you were. FYI I'm not a Christian but for some reason Christians don't bother me nearly as much as Muslims. I think the religion as a whole is based on domination of other people for its own good.

No, they didn't. This is one of the most common misconceptions about Christianity AND Islam. Both were feudal empires and feudal empires exist mainly by...uh....feuds. This means there is incessant fighting by ALL types of political entities with all others and that constant violence, really a sort of controlled anarchy, is basic to the government. Religion, on both sides, was just another of the ways that such violence was justified, when they bothered to justify it at all

No, they're not, neither side really did either thing either historically or in the present day. Christians were and are just as bad as Muslims and vice versa, then and now. Man is a wolf to man as the Romans said.

And the Jehovah's Witnesses call every other religion "Babylon the Great". Are they terrorists? (I scare them a bit, as I always answer the door naked if I know it's them)

This is why I think a lot of the more radical Muslim bashers are Christian fundies actually in sympathy with ISIS and al-Qaeda. Socially they are as alike as peas in a pod, as Sharia and Radical Christianity differ just about not at all in regard to women, gays and "morals"

No, not really, the Muslims are much better publicized but I think just as many, if not more, Christians are violent, especially if you look in Africa.

Good post.. When I said Christians tried to take over.. I was speaking of the Holy Roman Empire, Crusades, with burnings, slaughter of the Cathars and the activities of the Conquistadors. We have own own weird past.

I spent 20 years around Muslims and never had one try to convert me.. nor did any of my friends.. Although about 15 years ago my interpreter was teasing me and said I needed a Muslim husband. I told him it wouldn't work because I like pork and wine.. He howled with laughter.

to clearly see that I have not "made it up" Muhammad did, unless you believe his story about some angel stating the verse to him.

 

Except Christians had the text of the bible to demonstrate the illegitimacy of the divine rule of the Catholic Church. Invention of the printing press. The spread of literacy and widespread translation and publication of the bible and you get the Protestant reformation. Before then, the people didn't read Latin and so Christian doctrine was whatever the Catholic church said was doctrine.
Problem with Islam is that the likes of ISIS have the text of the Koran and hadiths to demonstrate the illegitimacy of the rule of any government other than the Islamic Caliphate.

 

Hey Aleksander have you ever known Jehovah's witnesses to fly airplanes full of people into buildings? I think we can pretty much separate them from you basic Muslim terrorists.

I don't care if they say "God is Great" in Arabic it's what comes immediately after that bothers me.

 

We had a "do drop in" mother who was JW at our hospital.. She was delivered in the ER by my brand new Ob/gyn doc and proceeded to bleed out. She was dying.. with 4 children under 6 at home. He transfused her to save her life.. Her husband had to be forcibly removed from the ER.

Within 30 minutes we got a call from a JW attorney in Atlanta 400 miles away saying he was going to sue. My boss was so cool.. He said "Bring it on"..........

 

I feel your pain but seriously Jehovah's Witnesses don't hold a candle to Muslims terrorists when it comes to savage behavior on a grand scale. Just get a restraining order on the JW's and we''ll let Seal Team Six deal with the Muslims.

Actually the crusades was a response against the Muslims who attacked Jerusalem which was poulated by Christian. It was an act of self defense.
