    It seems odd that those people we were killing also celebrate the event. The Turks feel almost universal sympathy on a similar level to Australians. They're just as happy to get involved in Gallipoli celebrations.

    Sure, there was war and killing, but there were also a lot of good values formed in the trenches. Think of it like a funeral - are you celebrating the death of a friend, or his life? Depends on perspective, I guess. Most Aussies and Turks take the celebration of life perspective.

    Is that wrong? I don't know that it is.
