Gay people did try and get civil unions to have the same rights as a legal marriage - and conservatives got a stick up their butt and started passing laws not only against marriage, but gay civil unions as well.

And if two heterosexual men want to marry, it is just as legal now as it is for two gay men to marry. It is not a special right of gay people.

I've seen a couple who like to put on a show for the right crowd.

 

The fact is, I never really did understand women. On one hand, I have my old fashioned views of women as decent honorable ladies of virtue, and that's something I thought they would all enjoy being. Gay's likely do not care that much what their civil union is called either - so long as they get the same rights and benefits as married couples under the law. If they want to call it "marriage" who are you to say they can't do this. You do not get to define what others label themselves - regardless of whether or not you agree with it.

The way marriage is is two people regardless of their sex who decide to join in legal marriage, as per SCOTUS resolution. And this is so because the Constitution and the laws say so. And the law dictating how things are is much more consistent in history than anything you think it says about marriage.

It seemed to me that your definition of "slut" was any girl that liked sex/ having orgasms. How this is a dismissal of societal respect. Even in the puritan days of old a married woman was not looked down upon for having sex with her husband. In today's world a woman who has sex with her boyfriend is not looked down upon .. except by the uber prudish puritan types but who cares about those folks.

The one that gets me the most is the right to die. Who the hell do they think they are insisting that people with a terminal illnesses suffer horribly for years, with no hope, just to satisfy their religious mumbo jumbo!

 

With the exception of the protection of minors, the government should stay the f*** out of marriage. There wouldn't need to be a law for gay marriage explicitly if the religious nuts would keep out of it.
