3 of the 25 instruments aboard both vehicles, multi-platform support to make the various things all work together, command and control support... oh, and the entire project was based on our CRAF program, which we openly shared with the ESA, and decided we didn't want to fund it when we could let you do it.

    Now say you were wrong.

The one who doesnt know the enormous contribution of Germany to aviation and space engineering, that person is wrong.

Only 72 went up by design by Germans. Mercury and Gemini were from Atlas missile designs Over 400 went up by the American Shuttle. So how many people has Germany set up on their own?

About space shuttle - it was first fully reusable vehicle capable of bringing up to 8 people + payload into low earth orbit. From the whole system only fuel tank was lost at each launch - everything else could be used again.
So, shuttle had wings because it needed to land gently.
This technology is not going anywhere - US has a few military gliders that look like mini shuttles that do some missions in space that are classified.
I also ready about military weaponizing space gliders for rapid strike capabilities.
As for shuttle crashes - well, that’s how humanity learns. There were cases when rockets blew up with crews inside, astronauts suffocating when a lander become depressurized and so on.

It’s easy for you judge, how many people did Germany send into space 100% on its own?

There is only 10 astronauts that make up the German manned space program. Every time they go up, they need our help to get there

The Space Shuttle was designed by the German Eugen Sänger and his wife irene Sänger.

The first non german design you have is the Dragon V2 which will launch people propably next year.

No. We dream our landers on Saturns Moon Titan, Comet Gerasimenko. We dream our Venus orbiter into Orbit around venus and we dream our Mars Orbiters.

Seriously. Did you really just ask that ****?

The Shuttle was a flawed design. Irene Sänger said she developed it original to bomb America during WW II. She later reused her design for NASA and it was deeply flawed.

It had almost no safety technology. The cerw could not escape. The worst part were the SRB, which cant be shut down once ignited.

Tell me something the Shuttle did that cant be done without it? Our Ariane rocket can send up ISS modules without risking crew.

A crew in a capsule can be ejected when something goes wrong. Shuttle crew cant.

The Space Shuttle was a flawed german design from 1941. Something we cant be proud for. At least we did not build this ****.

Oh really? I thought we use the russians Soyuz. Or do you claim this now as well?

Our own main rocket system has no crew vehicle and used for cargo.

In today’s world crew launch abort mechanisms are widely used, but don’t forget that shuttles were designed in 1970s.
Anyway, it’s a vehicle that is not used for manned flights anymore.
There are some interesting military applications for that thing, though.

'Design' in engineering is complete; design, manufacture, operate. The materials necessary weren't available in 1941.

In his defense, humor often doesn't travel well across countries. Also, many people in The Superior Country are currently hiding from a huge gang of people attacking with machetes, so y'know - priorities.

No, no George Muller, head of the NASA's
Office of Manned Space Flight Was the one who came up with the idea and the endignes as JPL were the ones who designed it in cojuction with Boeing, Rockwell Intl, and McDonald Douglass being the biggest contributors. No German design was used in the space shuttle But, since I posted links below, lets see your source.

None, its a white flag on the moon.

We have a lander on Saturn Moon Titan, an orbiter around venus. 2 around Mars. A lander on a comet. Several iss modules are german as are more than 460 operational satellites.

There is a german flag on the titan lander. Since the lack of uv radition it wont be bleached like the flag on the moon. Which is white and most likely alredy crumbled

Germany has great engineers and scientists, and their quality is well known, but you really should not take full credit when everyone knows that that mission was a collective effort. Germany has a lot to be proud of, and there is no need to make things up or claim full credit for collective efforts.
