Although I absolutely think the Jewish vote is in play, with long term trends to the GOP, the potential Puerto Rican vote by 2016 dwarfs the relatively small Jewish vote. Florida has already voted for Obama twice, with a much smaller Puerto Rican population.

Nah. Too many variables at this point. Democrats aren't even that thrilled about Hillary anymore. All the fervor is behind Bernie Sanders. But Hillary will be the establishment candidate pushed on the Democratic party by the media the same way they pushed Romney and McCain on the Republicans. This may or may not cause Sanders to run as an independent. If he runs as an independent, he'll split the Democrat vote. This will give the GOP candidate a virtual lock if that candidate is the only one running on the Republican side. However, if Donald Trump doesn't get the nomination and keeps his word about running as an independent, this will split the Republican vote as well and leave the GOP in the same position as the Democrats. Which levels the playing field once again and starts everybody back at zero.

So it's really still way too early to predict what's going to happen yet. It should definitely be interesting to watch, though.

The cool part is that regardless of how the election turns out, the GOP will almost certainly gain ground from this election cycle. Because Trump's presence has shown the other candidates what the people truly want. They want an outspoken candidate who's not afraid to stand up to the Democrats. So candidates in the future will likely be a lot more outspoken and will look more like Ted Cruz than John McCain. Which means we're much closer to electing another Reagan in the future than we've been for the last 20 years or so now.

Right, their money has always been more important to the Democrats than the actual votes. But that's because their actual voting size isn't that big, so I don't think they can make a difference in Florida.

Well the first polls since the debate have come out, and Trump's lead has indeed increased slightly, Huckabee is losing ground, and I was wrong about Cruz, he is now in second place. Not good for the party establishment, the two they hate the most are now in the lead.

The party is in turmoil. It has been for years but it's finally obvious to the base. Interesting how reality slaps folks in the face.

We've had party establishment candidates the last two elections on the assurance they were just what we needed to win, after all, the party elites and their media said so...and we lost twice. That is a mistake that will not happen again.

And if the non establishment candidate does get the nomination, and then gets crushed in the general election for being too conservative, what then?

I actually kind of hope she doesn't.

I just hope any of the current Republicans don't win even more than I hope she doesn't. Like a lot more.

It looks to me like Hillary can't be touched by scandal. If the eamil thing didn't get her then I doubt anything else will. Now I'm not saying she didn't do anythign wrong. Just saying she seems to be the clear cut front runner. And Trump cannot beat her straight up.

Well the economy ususally far out weighs the social for conservative independents like me and most Republican. It's the Democrats who harp on the social issues and try to use them like a hammer on Republicans to avoid economic issues.

So what is she bringing to the table for an independent like me that the Republicans aren't?

The plan that calls for higher taxes on business, more regulation on business, more cost to business. more foreign workers into the country?

She states lots of outcomes she wants but what is her plan to get there that will not wreck the economy and the just now starting to see so slim growth and maybe just maybe an improving jobs market. Why would you do all that she wants to do on a weak recovery?

Yes they have, they are in reconciliation on a common sense budget to get us heading into the right direction that they will send to the President around the middle of September for him to sign for the 2015 budget. The first budget passed by Congress since the last Republican Congress. Just getting the budget and spending direction we have been on for the last 8 years skyrocketing the deficits and debt has been a MAJOR accomplishment.
They forgot why they were elected and why independents voted for them.

I am an independent and I vote for the best person for the job who agrees with the most on the policies I support. And to say the Republicans are ignoring the economy belies the facts.

There is no popular vote, there may be some triviality into tallying the 50 separate popular votes that happen individually in the 50 states, but it is not an accurate representation of much unless it is a real landslide. You win by winning states and their electoral votes not individual votes.

The States elect the President not the Citizens.

It's hard to tell. A lot of people seem to like her and I have no idea why; she's a total (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) and I wouldn't want her anywhere near power. The Republicans are always (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)ing about needing a strong leader (because you know, when you're a free, liberty loving individual, you want someone to tell you what to do) and she is that, but she is just awful. We're talking about the same person who wanted Mech Warrior 2 banned because of life like violence since you could blow arms and legs off of giant machines. That's how stupid things could get with her. Lord knows there won't be a reasonable republican though, so best hope is a democrat that isn't total garbage. After Obama basically went off as Bush 2 (3?) I have no faith. Whoever we elect will be a joke. At this point I think, I dunno, just put 300+ million names in a hat and pick one.

Right, wrong or indifferent, since presidents take credit for a good economy, they get blamed for a bad one. As for what the GOP is doing on the economy, there hasn't been a thing in the news about it.
