But I’m not aware of anyone with lupus and take hydroxychloroquine being hospitalized or dying after being infected with Corona virus.

It has a death rate ten times as high as the seasonal flu.

At least 10 times as high, and the stats are not miseled into stone yet. It could end up being either considerably less - or considerably more.

Trolling for Trumpers is launching a Trump-style attack on anyone who criticizes the government.

An overly-healthy immune system is what killed most people in the Spanish Flu pandemic. That flu did not target the young, whose immune systems were not yet developed, nor the old whose immune systems had worn down. The Spanish Flu's biggest demographic of victims was 20-40 year olds. It is thought that the health of their immune system at that age caused exactly what you described...an influx of immune cells into the lungs, which essentially drowned the victims in their own fluids. The virus was likely to pass on it's own if your own immune system didn't put up a strong fight with it.

That sort of cytokine storm is apparently happening in Covid patients, but has targeted weaker/older people more. I wonder if the immune response is the cause of death for our elder victims, or if pneumonia or organ failure is the cause.

    Very sad.

As an economist, I can assure you we will be okay if we keep our businesses intact so people have jobs to come back to when this is over. We have to be "all in" on saving businesses, big and small, and supporting individuals who find themselves in a tough spot. We have to be prepared on the way back to a new normal to help businesses and individuals who have to innovate and change their business model.

At the moment, we are at +70,500 new COVID-19 cases for the day, which, one week ago would have been horrifying news, but in light of the +101,090 new cases yesterday (my time zone: GMT +2), "only" +70,500 is really, really good news, for it is about 30,000 less new cases than were reported yesterday. Report in one hour. Let's see what the last hour of my day brings. A number of days like this would break the exponential curve. Then again, we have already had some days where the daily number of new COVID-19 cases rolled back some, only to come roaring back a couple of days later. Wait and see.

But for now, what I am seeing is - in relation to what has been going on - good news.

Reminder: in my signature file is the link to the excel table that I screenshot at least once per day. I update generally at least once per hour.

Currently, 9,536 COVID-19 deaths in the USA.

Also, currently at +1,084 deaths just today, this is the third day in the row where there have been at least 1,000 deaths per day in the USA.

Why are you minimizing the coronavirus? It kills enough people that no matter what we say or do, people won't travel or go on cruises, dine out, attend sporting events, or even go shopping. We need to beat this thing, one way or another. If we're lucky, we'll have an effective treatment soon, later a vaccine, but we can't count on that.

Germany has moved over the 100,000 mark and is now the fourth nation in the world with at least 100,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases, after the USA, Spain and Italy.

The british press is being especially tight-lipped about this. No extra details yet.

Last week on the radio, some health care worker called in to the morning show and said he and many other area medical staff had been furloughed because we've been forced to cut out or rescheduled all unnecessary medical procedures and rescheduled anything that can be delayed.

Do they expect these people to come out of small public practices and specialty clinics and got volunteer at a hospital? I'm sure many will, or they'll work for less pay than they were earning, but this is just wrong. How many will just refuse?

Basically, they cut "unnecessary's", which dramatically decreased revenue, and now they don't have the money to pay workers.

    Every action has consequences:

Red China lied and covered up. Fauchi was fooled by their deception claiming that the effects of Corona virus on the US would be minuscule on 2/17. Taiwan which knew what was really going on in Red China responded very early.

few weeks ago I read a suggestion that older people may be more targeted because they are more likely to have had flu in the past meaning that their immune system is ready to fight the disease but instead enters a cytokine storm instead. This storm leads to pneumonia. In other words those most susceptible to die from the virus are those that have had flu in the past and have a reasonably good immune system. I haven't seen much about this since then

Hmmm...I wonder what effect having the flu this season would have while there was an overlap between flu and Covid.
