...China is a house of cards built on the same corrupt systems as Russia....both are dictorships...and both suffer from image over reality and all the other guff that goes with it.
...China is slowly imploding and Xi knows it, but is too far into the system to be able to do anything about it. Thus, he makes speeches and has the CHina image machine manufacture narratives, just like Putin, squealing and moaning at the west because it makes him look good at home.
...China is about keeping 2 billion people in their place...nothing else...and with the BRI backfiring..and the likes of Evergrande and Country Garden heading for bankrupcy, the unimaginable off-balance sheet debts China has underwritten etc etc. there are some massive....huge...structural issues going to happen in China so what do you do...you change the message....make it about the west and Tiawan...

I imagine the meeting between Putin and Xi in CHina yesterday went something like
Xi: "Putin, you own me a shed load of money thet we gave you under the BRI programme why aren't you making re-payments??
Putin: "Master, we don't have your money just yet....we didn't manage to get all of Ukraine....the bits we do have aren't worth much....

Living for years in places like Iraq, Kuwait, and Israel. In my first year in Iraq I was a trainer for the NEW Iraqi Army. I was assigned an I-T (Interpreter-Translator). We were essentially "joined at the hip" and he taught me a lot about Radical Islam He was a very intelligent guy and a recent graduate of Baghdad University. He helped us because his fiance was abducted, raped and killed by Sadaam's two sons Uday and Qusay. I also talked extensively with our traineesduring training and in the barracks.
