What is it about illegals costing us $130 billion a year that you don't get? I would rather pay a little more for a product than having at least 12 million illegals sponging off the tax payer, bringing down wages for Americans, joining gangs like MS13, and taking up all the HUD housing so Americans have to spend years on a waiting list.

We are running out of water, our infrastructure is embarrassing, homeless Americans everywhere, people pouring into the country who hate America, deficits in the trillions. When all is said and done, they contribute nothing to the GDP. They use up more taxes in the social services they get than what they pay into the system. They do contribute a lot to Mexico's GDP though.

One of the consequences of Trump's punitive tariff on Mexico - for which Americans will pay - is increased illegal immigration.

To the extent he sabotages the Mexican economy, he creates more unemployed Mexicans who will migrate to the US to find employment.

Trump identified no objective criteria to cancel his tariff and, in the first three months of this year alone, Mexico arrested 31,000 and deported another 22,000.

Central American refugees are fleeing economic crises, political upheaval, and especially drug cartel violence that the Mexican government can't do anything about. (And that U.S. policies have actually inflamed and made worse.)

At this point its not implemented and just a threat. But the first time I read it I thought the same thing about the criteria to cancel the tariff, its not clear enough and a lot of money and effort could be used that will result in nothing for Mexico if not handled properly. I would do nothing if I was them until that is cleared up, if it even can be. No country on Earth has a proven method to stop illegal entry 100%, even militarized borders are not 100%.

The plan I like best is tax the money they send home.

 

I'd even go so far as confiscating it. That would end the incentive for Mexico to facilitate entry into our country in the first place. Money sent to Mexico from earnings in America is their single largest source of revenue.
