Why would someone use a telescope to view a tiny portion of a tower when TV cameras were all over the event in close up and many angles? Also, a telescope is terrible at viewing moving objects. And from 4 miles away quite useless at viewing anything other than large objects

 

How small would a moving human being at 4 miles away look like in a telescope, I wonder.

Well, I am of the opinion Trump is generally full of crap, and this story is N+1 in supporting that theory.

 

With a good pair of binoculars or a telescope (that many multimillionairs have), one could make out people moving about from 4 miles away.

Trump was likely looking at the news on TV when he saw the people jump. So, I don't think has saying anything false.

I changed channels to get different view. Why not have the TV on AND the telescope pointing at the building, if you already have one set up.
Also, high powered telescopes can see much farther than 4 miles, and clearly. Navy binoculars would be my choice if I were interested in that sort of thing though, and with Trumps' cash, he can afford very nice telescope/binoculars (tens of thousands).

Regardless, I still don't care. Trump says yes, you say no and nobody can disprove what he says at this point, so it's moot. I have no particular interest either way; I'm just suggesting it's perfectly possible.

 

Trump seems to be showing symptoms of dementia.

He is confused on differentiating between what he has seen on television and what he witnessed in person. Yet, the worrying thing is that he cannot see how unrealistic his observations actually are. Also worrying, is that his supporters are defending everything he says.

 

I don't see why this is a big deal. Whether Trump saw people jump with his own eyes, on live TV, on the following news reports, or the many documentaries about 911, people did jump. I even believe a fire captain died when a jumper landed on him. Now if Trump said he was watching people jump while he was under sniper fire.......

I was also switching channels regularly though I only had two channels to switch through. I could not take my eyes of the television. I would not have gone to a telescope especially if I had many channels as you had to switch through which were showing views much closer than any that could be seen through a telescope. It was unbelievable what we were witnessing. Remember that the towers were down within about an hour of the attack and cameras were showing many many views and also giving news on what was happening to other planes. . It is not easy to control a telescope to focus on a window which would be all that he could do and that image would not be stationary due to the tower building swaying (all tall buildings sway normally) - telescopes are rubbish at focusing on anything that is moving.

No one knew when planes would stop being hijacked so it is not reasonable that anyone would think of taking their eyes off the television and then using a telescope or even binoculars to attempt to see the twin towers from that distance. I firmly believe that he believes that he saw them from his window but he actually saw them on television.

 

I can only use logic. I'm not even close to being a millionaire but we have some binoculars to see the swamp creatures outside the back window.

Now, say you are a rich playboy living in your New York high-rise apartment (like Donald). Of course it's all over the news during 9-11. Would you not look out the window at the WTC buildings burning??? Would you not have some high quality optics there to look with greater clarity???

Just a matter of person, place and time---- doing what any normal person would be doing. He MORE LIKELY saw the TV footage of the jumpers, but may have been able to make out people jumping thru the haze and distance.

Want to know a lie that actually matters? Something like getting shot at by snipers, basically embarrassing and saying FU to the marines guarding you. Now THAT'S a significant lie. As I used to live in the Los Angeles area years ago, I with my own 20/20+ eyes see the oil tankers sitting 2 miles offshore and just make out people on them. So I would assume Donald has at least a pair of $2,000 Swarovski bionos and could very likely see people 4 miles away magnified about 10 times.

Human-scale objects are resolvable as extended objects from a distance of just under 2 miles (3 km). For example, at that distance, we would just be able to make out two distinct headlights on a car.

Now if Donald were an eagle or crow, his retinas would allow him from a mile away to see whether a man was carrying a rifle or a fishing pole --- and would be able to actually see the people falling from 4 miles away.

I don't know if you have visited new york city , but the logistics involved with getting from one place to another is a nightmare. Most don't bother owning cars because of this. Trump likely uses a helicopter, which would be grounded during an incident with terrorist aircraft in the airspace. Not as easy as one may think.

 

Bet he has the most bad assed telescope you can buy.
