Well, cheap anyway. Though I don’t necessarily disagree that there is an element of slave labor in the Chinese economy. But, then again, one could argue the same about the American economy, if one considers amount of money that is taken from the “earned” and giving it to the “unearned”.

Are you saying that the US are going to produce toys and dolls to sell to China?

No idea will work until the cost of manufacturing in China is the same as the cost of manufacturing in the US

    No it isnt

The same combine harvester can be used to harvest many crops including corn, wheat, barley and soybeans to name a few

All the farmer has to do is change the head which is attached to the front of the machine

Most farmers grow more than one crop and already have the necessary heads for each

Incidentally, the harvester in your picture appears to be a chinese knockoff of the ones made in America

Thats a touch of irony for ya

because china would like to put American producers of combines out of business too

I was educated as a free trader and have had to reeducate myself to oppose mindless globalism

But I agree that china is not a free trader

They are a state run economy

Exactly!! Lower cost electronic products were already shifting production from China to India/Vietnam/Indonesia, as labor costs started to rise in China. Add Trump's tariffs to the equation, it's going to encourage companies to find cheaper sources of labor, not shift production back to the US. Hell, for a lot of consumer products, the manufacturing infrastructure doesn't even exist in the US. Nor does the supply chain. Manufacturing infrastructure in the USA has been geared, for decades, toward big ticket consumer products like cars and large appliances.

That's one thing you've said that I agree with.

You can argue anything you want.

However we cannot compete with slave labor, child labor. prisoners.
Knock-offs, without paying for the patient.

You are OK with the US losing $200B per year after year due to intellectual property theft by the Chinese ?? How many US jobs does that cost ??

We hear predictions of global disasters all the time. Have any come true ??

Good enough. At least we don't fuel China's military and plans for world domination

Nothing there about shoes and toys, you know, the headline of your thread, in fact your link has nothing to do with imports from China at all so why are you derailing your own thread

Try reading beyond the headline. No wonder you are so uninformed if that's the way you get your news.

One can be guided by emotion or reality. You are choosing incorrectly.

You mean read your OP and the link which says exactly the same as your headline? Other than increasing the cost of goods, especially children goods, none of these tariffs will have any effect on IP rights, so what is your point

From the link you obviously can't comprehend

"A long list of consumer electronics could also end up being hit by new tariffs, including smartphones, computers, televisions, fitness trackers, Bluetooth wireless headsets and even drones,"

Now that you've lost that argument and want to switch to IP rights go for it.
