Incorrect. Done properly, Halal slaughter leaves the animal to bleed out while still alive rather than die immediately. Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, and Iceland have banned the practice. "The problem with halal slaughter, which Muslims are bound by Quranic scripture to abide by, is that the process is considered one of the most horrific and inhumane slaughter of livestock in the world. The ritual involves binding the animal, typically around the muzzle or legs, and slitting the throat. The animal will eventually bleed out in a painful and gruesome display." (http://madworldnews.com/muslims-furious-bans-halal/ [includes graphic photographs of bloody mess]) But even if it weren't, it's still primitive superstition that should have gone out of style centuries ago.

A major problem is that if 'religious'-type slaughter is required for such things as some school means, it will be cheaper for businesses to use it for all, thus spreading these archaic practices to those not burdened with 'laws' that command them.

No, you are assuming that our slaughter houses are nice as advertised by the meat industry. You seem to not know that our conveyor type slaughter houses also cut the throat that leaves the animal to bleed out while still alive rather than die immediately. Stunning is very ineffective and animals such as chickens are hung hundreds in line as they approach electrified water that their wings are supposed to dip into. Many chickens after seeing other chickens ahead of them in pain after the dipping just raise their wings thus avoiding the stunning. They are then slowly brought towards the cutting blades which again they try and avoid leading to being finally cut up for packaging while still alive.

As for cows, stunning is very ineffective. They are also hung upside down onto a conveyor belt many still conscious. There are many videos of what really happens in slaughter houses that you think are humane. Compassion in world farming and others have many examples.

Religious type slaughter is more expensive than conveyor type slaughter houses

I love pork chops, bacon, pork sausage, pork roasts, hot dogs, meatloaf, lions, tigers, and bears, oh my. I love chicken soup, roasted chicken, grilled chicken, chicken salad sandwiches, chicken eggs, chicken feathers for cleaning up oil spills, here a chick, there a chick, everywhere a chick chick, etc. Thank you pig and chicken farmers.

And yet, no complaints about eating monkey meat in Asia or South America. No complaints about eating raw tuna to near extinction. No, that's okay.

Oops, I forgot something I love with cold beer. Chicken wings! Why can't scientists make good tasting chickens with like eight normal sized wings? They should taste good, too. My apologies to all those who love chicken wings, hot, mild, breaded, wing dings, and wings with ranch dressing and hot sauce on the side.

I love kosher meats and all kosher foods. I'm not Jewish, but they sure know what they are doing. God bless you!

It's actually not, but I understand why you'd want to pretend otherwise.

PS : Halal and Kosher use the same method of slaughter. I mentioned both in my post yet you respond with just an attack against Halal.

I'm not assuming anything. I'm well aware of how gross and despicable slaughterhouse practices are, I grew up around the children of cattlemen. They were hard and desensitized to pain and misery even at 12-13 years of age. But they didn't pretend God told them how to kill animals. They didn't have an annual festival of killing (Eid al-Adha). Muslims do.

According to the article in the OP, the meat is wasted because it has not been handled according to USDA health laws so to whom are the dead chickens donated & how can anyone excuse the cruel way in which the birds are handled prior to being sacrificed?
We've got 4 egg laying hens & know the proper way to handle them. These anachronistic Orthodox Jews clearly don't know or care that the birds are suffering & earn the enmity of the local community they incur.

I can't say for certain, but according to Pamela Geller, Halal and Kosher methods of slaughter are very different. https://pamelageller.com/2015/03/ha...rcover-film-exposes-savagey-of-industry.html/

But for what it's worth, I oppose Jewish animal sacrifice, too.

We gave away our hens over a year ago. But plan on getting more only just 3 next time. All our birds were free range and veggy fed. Penned in at night and free all day. Never lost but one in 20 years and about 200 chickens during the time.

    Re:
Again, you've got to be kidding.

There is no greater "Welfare supported entity" than Israel (1) just as the practices of the Israeli government more closely resemble fascism than their self avowed "democracy" by employing Collective Punishment, Ultranationalism, Expansionism(2)(Lebensraum=Greater Israel) and a mass belief in Ethnic Cleansing(3) to name a few.

When will the day come when Israel can "stand on its own two feet"?

billion every year in the form of economic aid from the U.S. government,

this figure is just the tip of the iceberg. There are many billions of

dollars more in hidden costs and economic losses lurking beneath the

surface. A recently published economic analysis has concluded that U.S.

Many muslims kill dogs because they view dogs as an unclean animal, but dogs are not sacrificed.

    .
You know why orthodox jews torture chickens? Apparently, they do it in an attempt to transfer their sins onto the chickens, i.e. they think that they can trick God into punishing chickens for sins that their jewish torturers commit. No, seriously, folks, read the following articles:
    https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/07/nyregion/a-raw-deal-for-chickens-as-jews-atone-for-sins.html
    http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/the-custom-of-kapparot-in-the-jewish-tradition

What do you think about this belief, folks? Are orthodox jews right? Is it really that easy to fool God?

I don't think that God is so easily duped & would shun these people for their yearly barbaric "Chickencausts"

It seems like kapparot is similar to scapegoating, another old tradition:

    "Scapegoat"
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scapegoat

EXCERPT "A scapegoat is a person or animal which takes on the sins of others, or is unfairly blamed for problems. The concept originally comes from Leviticus, in which a goat is designated to be cast into the desert with the sins of the community. Other ancient societies had similar practices. In psychology and sociology, the practice of selecting someone as a scapegoat has led to the concept of scapegoating.

And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats: one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for Azazel.

    — Leviticus 16:8, Jewish Publication Society (1917)CONTINUED

While chickens, dogs & goats don't seem to fare to well in Judaic & Muslim societies, cats seem to have it made in the Islamic world:

    "Islam and cats"
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islam_and_cats

EXCERPT "The domestic cat is a revered animal in Islam.[1] Admired for its cleanliness as well as for being loved by the Islamic prophet Muhammad, the cat is considered "the quintessential pet" by Muslims.[2]"CONTINUED

You'd think so, but it seems mass production means otherwise. I was talking, of course, about school meals. Fair treatment for dyslexics!

The jewish activist Stephen Cohen fights "antisemitism" by tying a rooster to his penis and dancing around naked and scaring nuns:
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...Eiffel-Tower-guilty-sexual-exhibitionism.html

What do you think about Cohen's treatment of animals? Is this a good way to make people less "antisemitic"?

I don't know if that act of insanity is more sadistic or masochistic. Health roosters with their talons intact can really hurt you.

At any rate, I can think of better ways to fight anti semitism

I don't believe that bleeding out is painful, gruesome or torturous. I think the animal gets weak, passes out and dies. So I think you are wrong. I saw a whitetailed deer, shot thru and thru, in one side and out the other with a razor tipped broadhead arrow that passed completely thru the deer. It happened so quickly that the deers flinched its skin as if to shake off a deer fly. It looked back and forth. Satisfied that all was well, it went back to grazing on the grassy dike. After a few moments, it began to wobble. So it sat down. A couple more moments and its chin settled to the earth, where it died. It did not freak out or run or bleat or anything. There was absolutely nothing horrific, painful or torturous about it.
PS: I just looked at the pictures in your link and have to admit that it looks pretty gross....more like a blood lust than religious preparation.

I think that the difference is that the deer you shot was not tortured prior to and during the process of its desanguination. You didn't trap it, break its legs, drag it around etc . However, simple desanguination alone is for some the suicide of choice because it is relatively painless (so I've read).
Meanwhile, I agree with you, this archaic religious practice is grotesque. What sort of lesson does it teach the kids involved other than it's OK to torture animals in the name of God if you're Jewish.

    "Animal Abuser Registry Act"
    http://www.animallaw.com/Model-Law-Animal-Abuse-Registry.cfm

EXCERPT " The link between violence against animals and violence against human beings is well documented. Individuals who mistreat, abuse, or kill domestic animals or wildlife often extend that behavior to humans in the form of domestic violence, child abuse, and in certain cases, even murder."CONTINUED
