The U.S. has "exporting hate" since the 1950's but "white extremism"? Someone has a vivid imagination and should stay off the sauce.

There were of course historians, and preservationists who attended the vigil in Charlottesville who were only interested in the statues historical and artistic significance. But you obviously prefer not to "think" about that aspect. The "hot button" topic drew extremists on both sides, likely something else you expect everyone else not to "think" too much about. After 2 yrs of ineffectual character assassinations you would "think" disingenuous liberals would have learned something by now.

I agree the disconnect between our policies and the United States' is pretty baffling. Most Australians hate the wall but love our turn back the boats policy, which is effectively just the wall with the oceans as concrete.

But offshore detention is not a concentration camp. This is hyperbolic nonsense. The refugee scam is designed to launder economic migrants into a sob story.

 

Groups like Amnesty international paint a grim portrait of both the policies, and conditions on Naru and Manus. Media has either got limited access, or has limited interest in airing camp footage. Now it might be that images released intentionally portray the conditions in the worst light possible ... but interviews I've seen don't sound staged, nor does the camp in the backdrop look humane. I do appreciate that you objectively assess the contrasts of US / Au policy though. I do try to refrain from hyperbole, but mine's a lot kinder than global human rights groups used.

It disturbs me that liberals are willing to gleefully accept US responsibility for the acts of foreign terrorists.
