I'm with you on this but isn't this what we've been doing since the Civil Rights movement? All of this recent drama was orchestrated by Obama and Holder in a cynical attempt to divide and conquer, to widen the divide between progressives/liberals and real Americans. I'm all for what you suggest but have zero respect for those on the America hating left and do not consider them Americans. We will never be united as long as the left exists.

Russia did "meddle" in the election. They meddle in everything we do. But the investigators said there is no evidence that even one vote was influenced/changed. A few Russian internet trolls had ZERO impact on the election.

I remember I didn't vote for Obama, but when he was elected, I wished him well. I hoped he would be a great president, even though I had my reservations about him at the time. I hoped he would be a great president because my love of country outweighs politics. Now as the years went by, I disagreed with Obama on many things. He did not live up to my hopes. But I never wanted to sabotage him out of hatred or revenge for winning. I disagreed with him on issues. I also defended him when he was right about things. For example, when a hellfire missile landed on the head of Anwar al-Awlaki (an American) in Yemen, I defended that decision. I give him credit for giving the OK for the raid in Abbottabad to get bin Laden.

But what I'm seeing today are two sides who don't care about the issues as much as they do about the war with each other. It's personal. It's fueled by hatred, and hatred isn't rational.

Trump deserves some of the blame for this. Not all of the blame, but some.

But meanwhile, the Russians must be toasting their success. What they wanted was political paralysis in the U.S., and they were willing to work for it, and pay for it, and they got it. For their skill in espionage, you have to give them credit. They have done great harm to us without firing a single shot.

As for me, I am going to resolve to give an extra measure of respect to those who disagree with me. I'm going to see that as a way of fighting back against the Russians. I'm going to see that as a patriotic act. I hope others will do the same.

That's very noble, and I agree. But the left wants to throw out the Constitution and remake America as a cradle-to-grave socialist paradise. To do that, they will do ANYTHING to trash and weaken "tradtional" America. We can't appeal to their patriotism and ask them to stop their attacks because they're not patriotic. It would be a waste of time.

    There are three Americas:

    1) The traditional, small government America of Washington, Lincoln, Reagan, etc.

    2) The political left, wanting to fundamentally change America,

    3) The vast middle, which isn't wed to conservative or liberal ideology. They're just a back seat passenger along for the ride, while the left and right fight for control of the steering wheel.

To be honest, the left has already obtained much of what they've wanted. Because of that, we keep sinking in all of the international rankings. We're just Greece x100.

That opinion and a valid voting ballot gave you a chance to make your point known, but it didn't work. If you and dems don't ask yourselves why you have lost elections since 2010, then I don't see anything changing for you in the future. lol

Just a tip: moderation might help a lot. lol

I could write a long essay on why I object to this modern day progressive liberalism, but I'll spare you. Just trust me on that.

But we must not hate each other and allow our country to sink into an abyss. For as we spend our time spewing our hatred at each other, as we paralyze our nation, as we eat ourselves alive like cannibals, our enemies cheer. Not only do they cheer, but they congratulate themselves, for it is they themselves who made a deliberate and calculated effort to bring about exactly this. We are playing their game, and of course, we are the losers for it.

You have no idea who I voted for and it isn't any of your ****ing business. In case you don't know, in the US, the vote is private. Decent people respect that. Just asking someone who they voted for is offensive. None of your business. Only offensive people demand to know who someone voted for. You can make your assumptions, but it just makes you look like you know what.

We lost the election because it was engineered by the Russians who wanted Trump to win, to win because he is such an idiot they knew they could control him and cause the most chaos in the US. And it's worked.

That doesn't explain the 2010 loss after dems shoved Obamacare on the people. That doesn't explain why dems lost the Senate in 2014. That doesn't explain why dems have lost power ACROSS THE BOARD, local, state, and federal levels to the point of power they had in 1929.

    Seriously ask yourself, why?

Hey there, Texan. My answer to you is a copy/paste that I just wrote to "God and Country".

And this, to American Nationalist ...

So, Texan, I am not suggesting that you surrender to progressive liberalism. All I am saying is that we are being played. These Russians had a strategic goal of creating discord and undermining our faith in our democratic system. All we have to do is look around at our political world, and we are hard pressed to say they aren't succeeding.

I suspect that the activities of these 13 Russians who were indicted are only the tip of the iceberg. I don't think this started in this past election cycle.

Gone are the days of that sort of transparent, ham-fisted Stalin era propaganda. The Russians are far more subtle and sophisticated than that now, and they are weakening us without firing a shot.

I think that out of sheer patriotism, we (all of us) must open our eyes, see and understand the threat, and turn this around.

Just trying to determine what you do want, since it's obvious you hate the person who won. Unless you wasted your vote on a third party or didnt vote at all, its pretty clear you wanted crooked Hillary to win.

    Merely sympathizing with your angst.

    Bless your heart. :(

As an American I have NEVER taken any oath to support any president.

All the oaths of office I have taken are to support the CONSTITUTION.

Military oaths are to support and defend the Constitution and to obey the [legitimate] orders of the president.

Please provide a copy of this "oath" that you took.

They also wanted to help Bernie win. And they also would have made the most of it if Hillary had won. You see, the Russians really didn't care who won. They didn't like Hillary, but their objective was to sow discord and undermine our faith in our elections. No matter who won, we see that they would have succeeded at this.

While we eat ourselves alive, they cheer. And they congratulate the success of their deliberate and calculated espionage effort.

They did care who won: the wanted the situation that would cause the most chaos and that would be electing Trump. They wanted Trump.

It is 2018 and the Dems are now winning elections that the GOP are should not be losing.

Too bad you aren't asking yourself why that is happening?

Now please refrain from trying to derail the OP topic.

This is about rising above petty differences and understanding that as Americans we have a COMMON ENEMY that is Russia.

Why are you aiding and abetting the Russians with your posts instead of trying to reach out and find common ground in the face of the threat we are facing?

It's too bad you don't get it. But dang, perhaps you should be revealing these feelings somewhere else. With some exceptions, I don't think you should expect much sympathy coming your way.

Like the problem with Social Media, weakness, whether created by accusers, or admitted, is like blood in the water.

True. But now we know who was behind the scenes, stirring the pot, organizing pro-Trump and anti-Trump rallies at the same time. We know a little bit about what they were doing, but I suspect there is a lot more. They have been playing us like a professional con man plays a gullible mark. "Hook, line, and sinker."

They had a strategic goal, and it makes so many things make sense.

The 30 or so STATE LEVEL seats, in battleground states, are a drop in the bucket to try and recover well over a 1000+ seats lost across the board since 2010.

When a dead body is tossed off a tall building, even it will bounce a little as it hits the pavement. It's physics.

Only collectivist come to a political debate forum and ignores people that disagree with them. If all you want is a circle jerk, the Huffington post is right down the hall.
