It would seem that you are "normalizing' (or minimizing) serious destructive behavior..........and that is very concerning. As if that was no big deal........ how bad does it have to get before some take it seriously?? It also suggests that many are so ac-limed to violence that a riot on the Capitol is just a little blurp.........on the violence scale. And that speaks to the society that exists now.

They know he wasn't trying to over throw the government. None of his actions show that. He wanted to put off the vote to make Biden President till an investigation was done to prove voter fraud. There is plenty to prove that is just what he was saying. They know it's true and they know they can't prove it was a coup. But they won't let it go and look at reality.

Then WHY is he obstructing the Special Committee on January 6th's every move? IF, what you say is true, which you can't prove and haven't even tired, wouldn't he want the truth to come out?

Not normalizing. Reeling in the over dramatic fake outragers.
    It wasn't worse than 911
It wasn't worse than Pearl Harbor
It wasn't worse than the Civil war
It wasn't an attempt to take over the government
    It wasn't an insurrection
    It wasn't a coup

It was a 4 hour riot that needs to be addressed and the rioters need to be punished for their crimes.

Here is why Trump believed like he did. Besides of all the people talking about illegal activities in counting votes The Pillow guy's video that the Pillow guy paid millions to show voter fraud. As it turned out the video has been debunked. The Pillow guy got scammed but if you watch it, especially the last 15 or 20 minutes you can see why Trump felt like he did. The video is quite convincing and the Pillow guy believed it and convinced Trump it was true. So watch the first few min at the beginning and then go to the last 15-20 minutes at the end. (The Absolute Truth)

That's A version of it. But there are many versions that say the Mike Pillowguy tale was fine with tRump if it contributed to his "BIG LIE" and got his follower's riled up. Donald Judas tRump never for a minute actually thought he had the votes. EVERYONE, that didn't have wild eyes, mascara running out of their hair or their hair on fire, and ANYONE with ANY credibility was telling him the votes weren't there. AND it drove him to the brink of insanity, so much so that everyone around him, not just Milly and Pelosi, were worried what he might do; can you say nuclear codes?

OK, I looked at it; not 15-20 minutes, but I get the gist; kinda lets the Democrats off the hook ... doesn't it. Sure makes it easy to understand why conservatives are harping on and on about China.

But, tRump insiders knew, and told him so, THE VOTES AREN'T THERE SIR! Are you telling me that The President of The United States believed these wingnuts over credible advisors that HE chose?
Because if that's true, that's just one more reason to be glad he lost.

It's terrible to believe, it was terrible to watch. But, the truth is the, then, President of the United States (Donald J. Trump), with malice aforethought planed and executed an attempted coup on the very Government he swore to protect and defend. And, to quote Edith Anne, "That's the Truth! pffft!

He believed from the video the votes were there. They supposedly showed a huge cyber attack on our voting computers where they could tell by the computer code they put out, what country it came from, what city and computers were effected. Which computers they were able to get into and change the vote and which ones they were not

Hold on to that thought, and rest well, if that's what floats your boat.

But it's AbsaByGodLutely a load of horseshit.

Yes, it turned out to be horse ****. But if you watched the whole video you wouldn't think so. He had supposedly computer experts telling just how it was done. They had page after page of computer break in and when and where it was done. It's easy to sit back now and say it's a bunch of horse **** now that we know, but we/ Trump and the computer guy didn't know it then.

tRump knew, and USED that and Powell and Rudy and anyone and anything else that propped up his lie. The lie was/is a cash cow and his best recruiting tool. But that doesn't mean he doesn't know it's a lie. tRump's life, and most of his money is built on lies and scams. That IS the art of his deal. The art of his deal is the art of the steal. Of whom there is no whomer than Donald Judas tRump.

He knew he lost the night of November 3rd, just like every sane person in the world. Everything that followed was a scam to hold on to power. He knew it, planed it and executed it just like his charities, university and casinos; all lies to put money in his pocket an give him POWER!!!!!

Interesting s to see how defenders of Trump "explain" his behavior and motives . .

Trump made it quite clear what he wanted Pence to d o that day.......... but somehow Pence found some spine and did what was right and democratically appropriate. the lynch mob was ready to harm folks ...........and it all cold have gone sough in a hurry...........with trump getting his way.............in over turning the election.

That day was a sad day for democracy.........and little wonder authoritarian nations see it as an example of how "weak " a democracy can be.

What is concerning is that folks seem to want something more authoritarian.......as is evidenced by the fact they would support ONE man over the democratic process...........and conduct unbecoming to a constructive democracy.

Folks keep boasting about the US being the best nation...........and yet seem determined t destroy its the premise it was built on.

So that day is also a symptom of something bigger unfolding.

The "Jabba the Trunt bought into utterly laughable bullshit" defense is no defense for his failed coup, but you do you...

Actually, there were many who were screaming from the rooftops that it was unmitigated and utter bullshit. The fact that Jabba the Trunt was apparently too stupid to see the obvious isn't in your favor...

What exactly was "brutal" about it?

Elucidate how their alleged "brutality" differed from other protests or demonstrations that took place elsewhere over the prior six months.

When you finish high school, you can go to college and study civil wars and then you can add a new word to your vocabulary, namely, "disenfranchisement."

Then you will understand that when any group -- a racial group, ethnic group, cultural group, social group, class group, economic group et al -- become disenfranchised, they will react.

Later, you will come to understand the subtle nuances of disenfranchisement. It does not have to be real or concrete. There merely needs to be the perception of disenfranchisement.

Part of that disenfranchisement can be dumbed down into "their vote doesn't count."

Unless you want future occurrences on larger scales, States would be wise to create transparency in voting.

I don't think it was any one thing but, rather, an accumulation of sentiments, resentments, incorrect information and fears. That Trump's rally served to whip the crowd into a frenzy (including all the lead up to it) I don't doubt - but those who stormed the capitol had been planning it long before they arrived at that rally.

And a corrupt leader bent on saving his ass while desiring to keep lining his pockets through cutouts!

Yep, it really is just that simple.

100% correct; let's not give the POS a second chance EVER.

    He can't.

Yep, the losers are still trying to rewrite history all day, every day.

Irrelevant. This is an attack on the Capitol, which puts it in a class all by itself.

You can't conflate 'attack on capitol' with 'street riots in other cities'.
Irrelevant to my question and point made.
The group, Trump's fans, they have been there, in the backround, through every election. IN the 60s they were manifested as the John Birch Society. The very same type of individual who were members of the JBS would be your typical Trump fan of today. I've known a few JBers in my youth, and they are very much like the Trump fans of today. Back then, this group was rendered on the fringe by William F Buckley, who, though courted them for awhile, became fed up with them. There they remained, until Trump, who fanned the flames of those cindering coals.

This group has always been disenfranchised, they have always been conspiracy mongers, and clueless about the reality of the body politic, and had their grievances, etc.

But in Trump, they found their champion, and now all you have to do is read the OP, and the rest is history.
Trump took that disenfranchisement, and molded into a bomb and lit the fuse on 1/6.

    That is the point.

Every country has a disenfranchised group, of one kind or another. This, by itself, is not a compelling fact.
