And how do we know the goal has been reached? When and where do we stop and what happens after that?

So it's an equality movement that focuses on making women equal to men. So why aren't feminists working to get women sentenced to similar sentences as men when they commit the same crimes as men?

when women come up with their own special battalion for special pleading purposes or a regular regiment for regular stuff.

This will happen when the ingrained culture followed by the judicial system that women are considered to be weaker and less dangerous than men, and also are thought of as needing protection, and it may even work in favour of men with them receiving lesser sentences to bring it into balance with what women receive . .whether that is a good thing or not remains to be seen, personally I would advocate for the sentences to be placed at the higher level that men get for women as well.

There has been a lot of interesting research into sentencing bias with numerous theories proposed as to why it happens.

Human nature .. there are few if any people who are going to advocate increasing punishment on the group they represent,

What do you mean more exactly?

I believe in individualism above collectibism- every person is unique.

So we are already there. I cannot see how any man or woman in the West is being systematically discriminated because of their sex.

So Feminism has a goal but does not know how to maintain the desired society once it has been reached?

Really don't know why you are asking me for I am not a feminist, try asking one.

I simply believe that all people should be treated equally.

You cannot possibly think all people should be treated equally. That is impossible. :p

Explain how it is not possible to treat all people equally

All people literally means 7 billion people of Earth. Only by that it is plain foolish to think one is capable of treating alI equally.

Furthermore, all are not even equal. We are all unique and different. Some are good at playing the piano, others are good at writing. If these were to be "treated equally" none of tjem would be allowed to express their interests and develop their talents.

Finally, it is pretty damn obvious we all treat our family and friends differently from how we treat strangers (inequality). Aaaand, a murderer can, of course, not be treated the same way as a children's doctor.

None of the above mean that people cannot be treated equally. Just because one person happens to be good at playing a piano and another is not is no reason to treat the person who cannot as inferior and basing representation on it. You are expressing differentiating between people based on learned traits, I am talking about not treating people equally simply because they have a different skin colour, are a different sex, or a different culture and neither should it matter in the slightest what talents or lack of them people have when it comes to their rights. That is what I mean by equality.

I.e.. a man should not be sentenced harsher than a woman simply because he is a man, just as a woman should not be paid less simply because she is a woman.

Meh. It certainly is not desired but at the end of the day, people are free to have whatever opinion they want as long as they do not physically hurt anyone else. :)

Not quite true, people are free to think what ever they like, when that thought becomes spoken it can and does injure others, and inequality in sentencing and pay certainly does hurt others.

A victimless crime is not a crime.

Most people have enough social competense to know what-not-to-say-when.

As the old saying goes; Sticks and stones...

Tell that to the men serving longer sentences than women who have committed the same crime or the women who are paid less than their male counterpart, and words can harm ... as another old saying goes; the pen is mightier than the sword.

Women are able to fully participate in society, like men. Example: frontline positions in the military if they pass all the same qualifying tests as men.

Women are equally represented as men. Example: 50% of congress.

Girl toys and boy toys are made to encourage adventure, exploration and learning. Example: recently saw a kid in a video ranting about two shirts side by side. Boy shirt had words like explore, dream, achieve on it while the girl shirt said "hey." Literal hey and that was it. Clothes not toys I realize, but you get the idea.

Companies are equally as likely to have a female CEO and board members as men.

Women feel just as safe and comfortable walking down the street as men.

Men and boys feel just as comfortable and safe expressing emotion as girls and women. And when they do aren't mocked for being too "girly."

"You ____ like a girl" isn't used as an insult.

The US women's soccer team is paid more than the men's because they are more successful.

Those are some examples of what I think of when I call myself a feminist.

That wpuld have been absolutely catastrophic for military strategy and troop moral. It is proven, through various simulations, that male soldiers do their all to protect the female soldier(s) and even throw themselves in front of her one by one when she is in danger. Also, having females in the frontline is a risk factor because one does not simply want to see romantic relationships in the army (this is why homosexuals used to be excluded from the army) because a romantic relationship with someone in the troop ruins your moral and focus and you will do more to protect your partner than follow instruction. Additionally, if your partner dies you will be demoralised deluxe and unable to operate even your boots.

Anyways, I am not a big fan of centralised armies or warfare in any way at all and would say that women should be allowed to join the frontlines if that is what they really want and if they are fit enough. Nonetheless, the reasons they are being held out of this field is not sexism, but rather what I have mentioned above.

Competence beats genitalia any day and there should be absolutely no quotas in any field!

This is a market and is therefore ruled by demand and supply. Apparently, this supply of toys is what the kids want. "Girl toys" (ie dolls)and "boy toys" (eg cars) are actually not some sexist mumbo-jumbo, but actually terms that are rooted in the different preferences of the two genders; generally speaking, boys prefer "spatial toys" (eg cars) whereas girls prefer "facial/emotional" toys (eg dolls)- However, if your daughter wants a toy gun and your son wants a Barbie, there is nothing stopping you from buying them these things. You can also buy the "Explore"-shirt for your daughter and the "Hey"-shirt for your son if you wish. Or why not enter the industry yourselfand change it if it is making you so unhappy?

Competence over genitalia any day of the week!

Men should be raped more and women should be mugged and assaulted more, you mean?

F-k that. I say let everyone carry a gun and everyone will feel safe.

I do not know why this is a thing within the Feminist movement. Whatever lesbian woman who made up the lie about men "being afraid to express their feelings" obviously knows nothing about being a man and probably have no male friends. No man would call his friend a "girl" if he was being sad. Anyways, men are not as emotional as women and just do not like expressing every stupid emotion they may have. THere is no stigma though.

´Policing language is a disgusting practice that does not belong in any movement claiming to be "democratic".

Soccer players are not paid on how much they win, but on how large revenues they bring in. Women's football bring in super small fractions of those of men's soccer. When as many people who find men's soccer entertaining also find women's soccer equally entertaining, then female players will be paid the same.

Cannot believe this deluded idiocy lives on.

If the Feminist battle now has boiled down to this, I suppose the real, actual equality battles are already won and you now have to restore to crap like above.

well those reasons suck. Maybe a woman is a lesbian and doesn't give a hoot about the dudes. Maybe she isn't there for love but to defend her country. Not allowing her to do that because a guy might fall for her is ridiculous.

Agreed! And there are just as many competent women who could be part of congress. So where are they?

Obviously yes you can buy whatever for your kid. The problem is that for decades toy companies have been telling boys and girls what is "normal" for them to want. If I gave my 10 year old nephew a Barbie for his birthday, even if he wanted it, he would likely get made fun of. My 4 year old nephew took his Frozen backpack to preschool and multiple parents made comments about his girly backpack.

Agreed! Again, there are competent women out there, so why are they still so under represented in upper management?

Where did I elude to that?

You have never been told not to "cry like a girl?" I've seen people tell their own sons that...

I didn't say police language. We should continue to evolve a more inclusive language because it's the right thing to do. There's no penalty for being an a$$hole, but that doesn't mean we can't continue to change what a$$hole means.

And more people watched women's soccer last year than mens. The women's soccer team did generate more money and bring home a trophy, yet the men make WAY more.

I have heard three people say this week that the US just shouldn't have a woman president, and two of those people were women. We are far more equal than in 1920, but we are far from done with this fight.

It would not really matter because biology is stupid. The dudes would throw themselves infront of her to protect her because that's how dudes are evolutionary programmed.

Generally, I feel forcing women to the frontline is the epitome of barbarianism and the most anti-humantarian thing one can do. Drafting our daughters is a big no-no for me.

Probably women are just not as interested as men in entering politics. Just as simple as that.

Sweden's parliament has a 50:50 gender ratio btw.

Well, the toy companies just adapt their production after the children's demand. They are not evil sexist how strive to maintain "oppressive gender roles", they are only and solely interested in profit and profit only. If girls want pink dresses, pink dresses they will get. If boys want toy guns, toy guns they will get.

Anecdotal examples rarely make a good argument. Your nephew's backpack obviously was girly, but why parents and other grown-ups are so interesred in children's games is beyond me. Closet paedophile, maybe. Other boys making fun of him is, unfortunately, expected because it is kind of "natural"; kids are pretty damn mean.

When I was a little boy I loved stuffed animals, which is not a very boyish preference to have. I was never made fun of though,. Perhaps because I liked violence and toy weapons too. :p

Boys and girls play in different ways. Me and my friend used to steal his sister's Barbies for our "action games", so boys can enjoy Barbies for sure.

    Individual choice.

I was just making fun of the concept of equality by putting into perspective and stretching it in absurdum in order to prove a point- equality is impossible and stupid.

Only by my older brother when I was like 6. Never recall my parents telling me this and cannot really recall any friend/class mate telling me this either, most likely because I never cried infront of them. :p

This is not the duty of government, but rather that of parents. Respectful language and good behavior are one of the fundamental cornerstones of parenting. You don't need a phD in gender studies to know the "N-word" is a bad thing to say.

You need to be more specific here, exactly what team(s) are we talking about here?

Well, if the alternative is Hillary then it is pretty damn obvious the US should not have a female president. Why is this so important anyways? President is a pointless and disgusting job. :p
