Probably. The human eye is drawn to MOVEMENT.

Nonsensical. Fails the laugh test. Not even mentioning vehicle break-ins, she is always carrying, at a minimum, a small overnight bag with her scrubs & boots.

    Accomplishes NOTHING.

Already does. (Actually, I think her phone is on her belt.)

Ah...so we're back to "pray he doesn't decide to kill her for kicks."

And hope he doesn't just decide that he wants to unwind with, say, a nice brutal RAPE. In that case...the sixth shot is for her.

Not always--or even usually--possible. The lot is often FULL when she comes in.

Impractical. Even if others are getting off at the same time, they don't usually park in the same lot.

And when the guy hasn't shown up in an hour, then what? Or when the guy DOES show up, and is a half-blind, half-deaf 80-year-old man who can barely walk 100' without resting? (That IS actually one of their "security" guards.)

So instead of walking to her car, she has to walk to the taxi stand, and they wait there...IF a taxi is available at 2am. Solves nothing...if anything, makes things WORSE.

Straw man. I never claimed that, only you did.

    Zimmerman....

Judging only his intellect. Would Plaxico Burress be a better example for you? Licensed in FL. How many common sense rules did he break before he dropped his gun down hos pants and shot himself, figuratively and literally in the ass?

    Carried Illegally

    From your post:

"When I lived and worked in Chicago, I was often times going into "bad" neighborhoods. Even though it was against the law, I would carry my .45 in the car. While it was against the law, I was surprised how commonplace it was for people to break that particular law. Anyway, I ended up turned around on the South side of Chicago in a very rough neighborhood and in a cul-de-sac where I needed to turn around. There was a substantial number of young men hanging out at one of the houses that started to approach my car as I was trying to get turned around in the tight space. Did I know if they were armed? No, but the odds were good. That is common sense. I knew them approaching the car was bad. That is situational awareness. I knew there was no way I was going to get the car out of there before they arrived at the car. What did I do? I held the gun up so they could see it. I didn't point it at them. I just showed them that I was armed and would not be an easy mark.

News flash for you. The crime you describe is a Class 4 felony in Illinois.

Apparently your vocabulary lacks the understanding of the multiple meanings of the work "know." Oh, and you might want to go a little lighter on the paranoia.

    And, I stand by this.

Don't worry. I'm done proving just how idiotic and ignorant dadoalex's posts are.

I saw this the other day. A small, double barreled .45 derringer style gun. Talk about small! I bet the recoil is nasty even with the porting.

Kel-Tec P3AT. Yes, a .380 is underpowered, but it is super concealable.

I try to carry what my ancestors carried as they went west. It wasn't a registered gun. No, they had the three Bs: Bravery, Brains, and Balls. All three are sorely lacking today.

LOL, yes I do feel incomplete when I forget those at home.

    To stay on topic:
I do not have a permit and do not break the law so I do not carry in the city. When I am home I open carry the only non-black powder pistol I own a Hi-standard double 9 in the mighty .22 caliber long rifle. I usually have a Marlin 336 lever-action carbine 30-30 in the gun boot on my 4-wheeler or my Remington model 1100 12 guage shot-gun depending on what I am doing.

I carry a S&W .38 air-weight revolver (5-shot, loaded with 138 grain +p hydra-shock hollow-point) when discretion is key, or a Springfield XD .45 full-size (loaded with 240 grain silver-tip hollow point) when I don't need to care if anyone notices something under my shirt.

I typically carry concealed wherever I go just to avoid the social reaction. Unfortunantly, while a pistol on the hip shouldn't catch the eye any more than a cell phone or molti-tool, it does, and folks are quick to place the wearer as the start of the horror movie they saw last week.

LC9 when it is warm. Glock 17 otherwise. Sometimes both, or carry one, and the other is in the glove box.

Depending on where I am and what I am wearing, N.E.F. R29 (.22lr, 9-shot) or Rossi .38spl in light clothing. Baikal IJ70 (.380) or P38 when wearing heavy jacket. For open carry in the bush, Charter Arms Bulldog .357 mag if it is wet and cold, Remington-Rand M1911A1 if it is nice and dry. (Hard to work a heavy slide in bad weather with my old fingers.)

My favorite part of the country. Tried to buy a summer place there in the 80's but was deterred by the signs in the windows in Ticonderoga..."Taxed out of business"...

Used to carry a double-action 25 cal Beretta, fits in vented front pants pocket. 7 shots, up close and personal. Sold it '90 when I no longer needed it. If I get another gun it will be a Charter Arms 44 Bulldog with concealed hammer, probably when I retire.

Since I only have a dozen guns, I don't have many options to choose from. I have a CC permit, but rarely carry one on my person. I live in a conservative county that shows little mercy to violent felons, so that's the first layer of security. Then I live in a gated community with a quard, followed by a house with a secutiy system and barking dog. On the unlikely chance I'll be invaded, I'd use a HK USP 40 and flashlight and then let them come for me.

In the car I have a 9mm Beretta 92F, but it's in the trunk.

    If I'm going into Indian Country then I'll carry either a KEL-TEC .380 hide-away or a Makarov.

If the SHTF and I know trouble is coming at us, then I'll load up the rifles.

My favorite hand gun to carry concealed (and I do keep a current State license to do so) is my Walther PP.

It was (in its earlier days) the standard sidearm of the German motorcycle police, back in the 1970's and early 1980's.

At some point, the Deutche Motorfarrad Polizei switched to the larger Glock 9mm, and so the Walther's were sold off to local Army Rod & Gun Clubs.

Mine (which I obtained from a close buddy who bought it from one of those Rod & Gun Clubs while we were in Germany together) is pristine, beautifully-blued, and has a perfect hair-trigger.

Apparently, the German motorcycle cops all used 'range guns' whenever they went to the range to shoot for currency and qualification.
Range guns were the same handful of guns that stayed at the range, and they got thousands of rounds pumped thru them.
The actual sidearm of each motorcycle officer was rarely fired, and was kept clean and shiny.
    Well loved.
    Pampered.

Anyway. That's what I carry when I desire personal protection, or whenever I feel my spider-sense telling me to tuck something into my back holster and under my shirt.

    She's a real sweetie.
Her original carrier would be happy and proud.
