Please tell us what end to war and/or peace treaty occurred on the first discussion.

Were we in war? Were we about to go to war? How can one "avert" a war that never existed?

And NK already got a bundle and doesn't have to do anything to return to where they are now

The beginnings of negotiations. Like many negotiations they have started with a statement of intent and a small framework of trust building.

"may," meaning possibly, we give up so much banking on a "may," that even if ignored changes nothing in the area, and you think that is a good deal?

No, no, no, we gave up so much and North Korea nothing, and that is what you call the "beginning of negotiations?" At the rate we will be broke before they are where we want them to be

Maybe we should fly North Korea pallets of cash?

That will make them like us right?

They don't have pallets of cash. North Korea is like a humanitarian crisis. We need to go in there and pretend like it was a hurricane that made it that way.

Did you forget the hostages? What about shutting down rocket engine testing facility? The destruction of a nuclear site? What about not firing rockets?

These military exercises can be restarted, no biggie. The process of denuclearization has begun. What do you prefer, perhaps war?

I think it may move fairly quickly.

I think the biggest obstacle could be hardliners in Kim Jong Un's own government.

Yes, yes, yes my friend and more will be given on both sides as negotiations continue. Or one side or the other will prove they are not acting in good faith and then there will be ramifications. The in between time means little it is the end result that matters. You dont grab a bowl of flower and water tastes it and then declare to the chef that their cake sucks. Just like you dont take one day of negotiations over a 60+ year conflict and declare to much or to little has been given up.

I think Kim can see the writing on the wall here and Trump is giving him a chance to bring his pathetic country out of the dark ages. His exposure to this older wiser man from outside his bubble may wake the boy up and bring him into reality.

Indeed if he moves too fast he may be killed. Hard to tell what's going on in that country and who really runs it.

You are wasting your time my friend.

These folk's TDS will not allow them to see reality or the facts of what's happening here no matter how skillfully you explain it.

I think they will look to the new ruler of Saudi Arabia as a guide to the 21st century. Do you know they are letting chicks drive there now? Watch out all I'm saying

Well, it got you another opportunity to say that success wasn't really success and Trump is to blame for everything bad. That is the left's mantra.

Anyone who doesn't have his head up there in the dark knows that nobody suddenly thinks Kim is no longer a pig and now has respect. Nobody thinks that N Korea has suddenly become a new brand- only a candidate that depends totally on their performing.

They also know that if you want to make a deal, you don't insult the pig to his face and try to make him eat dirt at the same time you want him to agree to change. You can do that with overwhelming military force, but not with diplomacy. Kim gets to play hero at home, call himself the winner- but he would do that regardless of what happened, and nobody outside his armpit world buy it. He also gets a far better life expectancy than he had a few months ago. Allowing him that that is the alternative to military action- but that's all he got at this time.

IF he backs up his promise, his country may join the rest of the world. IF he doesn't, I'd bet the sanctions that have put him in desperate straits will be increased, and his country will collapse. Trump put him in the corner- with one option to buy himself out. The process has started with a signed commitment. Given that all we have done over the last 68 years is lose in our negotiations with N Korea, that is unprecedented success. But then, Trump seems to do unprecedented things frequently.
