The only thing that has any validity is the substance abuse - it has a biological basis with noticable affects on the brain.

The mind is "plastic", but the ultimate shaper of it, is the owner of it. One can submit to the will and desires of another. But it is optional. I'm taking psych 111 right now. And the inconsistencies are amazing. I wonder why people buy this crap at all.

For something to be a disease it has to be biological in basis. There isn't a "schizophrenia" flu going around. Never has been. Unlikely there ever will be.

Example, it doesn't matter how much anybody tells me the that a circle is a square - I won't yield because it isn't true, others may yield and even lie to themselves to avoid pain or pursue pleasure, but these are optional still. I can choose to refute craziness when I stumble upon it. I own the gray matter between my ears, nobody else.

Now if you lobotomize me then there is grounds for another being able to call me crazy. But that has a biological basis. For all the other things? We do not have a successful gauge to measure the intricacies of the mind with current technology and practices. If we did, it wouldn't be subject to dispute. Much like gravity isn't up for debate.

    Interesting you should ask...

    Main Entry: gaslight
    Part of Speech: v
Definition: to manipulate someone into questioning their own sanity; to subtly drive someone crazy

...because that's what the pro-death and pro-homosexuality movements are all about.

And of course ideally, from the perspective of such perpetrators, the victim is completely unaware that his or her sanity has been compromised, which makes him or her a credible advocate for insanity, and an instrument for the further acquisition of power by the perps.

So you think a person can make a free will choice to lie to himself?

Of course they can. People tell themselves they will quit smoking "today". 15 minutes later they are puffing away in utter contradiction of what they said. Most people lie to themselves more than they do to others, and with much worse effects because of it. But that is my opinion. No way to verify it.

I don't think it's news to anyone that people lie to themsleves. What I'm still missing is some reason to think they choose to do so of their own free will.

Interesting set of responses here lately, but do you think we can get back to describing the mental state of these whackjob teens and adult women who find it more gratifying to kill their offspring, as compared to the uplifting and fulfilling life of the women who choose to give birth? Hate to be a stickler here when you'all are having so much fun, but the actions of these femme murderers gives us concern over their mental state, as well as a concern that these women with their criminally insane background should be allowed out in public at all. :eyepopping:

You can tell who they are by their eyes rolled back in their heads and saliva running down their chin, oh, and they all carry meat cleavers and scream incoherently and THEY ARE ALL OVER ..I can see some running through the woods right NOW!!....HELP! I think they're headed in your direction! Look out!!! There's thousands of them!!!

For the most part yes, I do not believe in the false priesthood as it is contradictory to basic evident truths regarding free agency.

The neurological aspects are spot on, but would be best left devoted to the realm of neuroscience.

So long as you're comfortable with the premeditated MURDER #1 label, I can live with that.

Too lengthy....I choose to ignore them at this stage of the game. Get more specific and it could be game on!

no problem you want to post falsehoods go for it, I mean with your creditability as low as it is a little more knocked off it won't make that much difference.

Translated : I can't answer you because I know its the truth
