yes, the Jewish religion re-wrote the religion to one God, vs multiple, but the other similarities are there

it's like the difference between the OT and the Jewish religion - the Jewish religion is the original, then Christianity, then Musliminity, then Mormonism - all based on the Jewish religion which appears may of been based on the Sumerian stories

it seems very possible the Sumerians stories were passed down and eventually changed over the years to what we now know as the Jewish Religion or the OT

I would guess the early Jewish religion slowly destroyed all the evidence of this and we would never of know if not for the discovery of these ancient Sumerian tablets

makes you wonder what other information we have lost to time because it was destroyed by people that did not want that information known

even in recent history we see Muslims destroying other religions memories, trying to erase them from existence

Many quibble with the Christian mandate, to be sure.

    1. Feed the hungry
    2. Give drink to the thirsty
    3. Welcome the stranger
    4. Clothe the naked
    5. Visit the sick
    6. Visit the prisoner
    7. Bury the dead

I don't think it is that unusual.

Most do not march in lock step with ideological dogma.

It would seem to me that Jesus likely said all three of those things, with each witness applying what they thought to be most telling of his last words. Jesus might have had more last words as well, but simply weren't recorded in the writings.

not all immediately before he gave up the ghost though, that part is what makes it impossible that he said all three things, had they left that part out, what you say could of been true

now if you say the bible got it wrong, then the bible is not the word of a God, but of man

Oh I don't know, I think it could have gone something like this, satisfying all three of the witness accounts. Remember, you're leaving out a whole lot of other context:

"And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" Jesus cried again with a loud voice, saying "Father, unto thy hands I commend my spirit." Having said thus, and having received the vinegar, he said "It is finished", and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Where you see disparity in the three accounts, I find cohesion.

Not quibbling at all with the mandate merely the method of accomplishment. The statement is you saw me hungry and you fed me. It is not you saw men hungry and forced Joe to feed me naked and made sure Jill clothed me. Biblical charity is neighbor helping neighbor not neighbor giving a crap loads of money to the government which in turn after taking a cut off the top passes it to some agency which in turn passes it to some state agency after taking a little more of the top and then after taking a little more off the top passes the rest on to the poor person after first attaching a bunch of strings.

but if the bible is the word of God, he would of made it accurate, that is my point, the bible was written by man

I am perfectly fine if you want to say the bible is man's word of what he says he witnessed and they missed some of his words, btw, we don't even know the real names of the people that wrote those stories, those were just names we made up as place holders, so it's hearsay from unknown people - the bible is a collection of the most believable stories at the time, many were left out, maybe other should of been left out too - the bible was created long after the Christian religion began

regardless, if he gave up the ghost each time he said one of those things, then he died 3 times

it's hard to see it when it's your own religion

NO they didn't hell there are more similarities between the Greek Myths and the Sumerians than there are the Sumerians and the Jews Both even have flood myths featuring fantastic creatures. Stories almost always grow not shrink with each telling.and the passing of years.

I am sure many myths stole from the Sumerians.. and I would bet there was religions before the Sumerians that they stole from

religions change things up to make them their own

I'm fine with us working on efficiency. I would suggest our system is too much in the direction of stop gap measures passed by congress to plug holes rather than being a well thought out comprehensive solution. If true, that could lead to a lot more overhead through duplication and other such issues.

However, the intent has NEVER been to "end poverty". It's been to help people who are below a level of income as per a complex calculation for each kind of help they might receive.

If we wanted to end poverty, we'd be more interested in features of our society that lead to poverty. And, we aren't.

Also, individuals giving individuals aid, has serious problems of ineffectiveness, too.

Some understand that societies can better help those in need among them by communal efforts, and that ethical values are expressed by a humanitarian society though self-governance.

The moral test of government is how it treats those who are in the dawn of life,
the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the aged; and
those in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.
Then, there are those who consign all moral obligations to the haphazard whimsies of individuals.

That is just more religious dogma from a book written by humans.

The Bible mentions roundness of the earth (Isaiah 40 22), Law of conservation of mass and energy (2 peter 3 7), hydrologic cycle (ecc 1 7), vast number of stars (Jereiah 33 22), law of increasing entropy (psalm 102:25-27), paramount importance of blood in life processes (Leviticus 17 11), atmospheric circulation (ecc 1 6), gravitational field (Job 26 7).

And we murder the children, trap those in the shadows in a perpetual state of poverty and crime, all while feeding an ever more rapacious bureaucracy and breaking our arms patting ourselves on the back for the good things we've done. For less than this God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and you thing he will prosper us? Let me give you another Bible verse, If my people who are called by my name will repent of their wicked ways and turn unto me with a whole heart then I will restore their land. We need to quit worshiping at the altar of government and return to the altar of God.

As long as you depend on government to help the poor you will continue to lose the war.on poverty. You will only succeed in spreading poverty not end it.

Tribalism is not a function of religion.Organized Religion does however use it to strengthen their own brand as do politicians.

Neither private, arbitrary charity, nor the People expressing a Christian ethos as a community is sufficient to dispel unnecessary suffering. To contrive excuses to abandon either expression of humanitarian responsibility is foolish.

Written by humans, but inspired by the Holy Spirit. It is amazingly for a book written by dozens of authors of all backgrounds over 1,500 years.

To continue to spend billions of dollars in a vain attempt to remedy that which money alone can never repair is a fools errand.

Every advanced nation on earth with a Christian heritage, as well as others, features a humanitarian component as an expression of self-governance, as well as encouraging private eleemosynary initiatives.

If you have any actual nation that serves as your alternative paradigm, please name it.

And? Science has since proven these things. My whole point of this thread is the fact that a supreme being (God) cannot be proven to be in existence. Belief requires a suspension of critical thinking and a total reliance on faith. Faith is a good thing to have, I just choose not to put my faith in something that doesn't exist.
