Respect is something that is very important to me, much more so then simply agreeing with me. I am one of those that can disagree with somebody, but keep things civil. In fact, I frequently disagree with many who I would consider "friends", but that does not affect how we feel for each other. We simply do not agree, and leave it at that. I think what I hate most is those that attack anybody that does not agree with them, posts without any kind of facts or knowledge, or who are simply trolls. And for the most part, I tend to agree with AA. There are occasional disagreements, but AA does seem very respectful even when we do not agree, a key consideration when I I responding to somebody else.
Yes, civility and respect are important.....but let's face it, these and pretty much any and all forums invite passionate discourse. I particularly enjoy threads that get the blood boiling to a degree. It can even get the brain functioning at a quicker pace (especially early in the morning). Sometimes posters can step over the line (myself included), although I prefer a forum with a temperate moderating style. Moderate and come down on serious offenders.....nobody likes trolls. MOD EDIT - Rule 8 Along those lines, I enjoy a poster who migrated over here with me at the same time a few months back.....milorafferty. He doesn't let the Russians get away with some of the nonsense they post, and his posting style seems to particularly irritate one of them. I've also recently found myself gravitating to ChrisL's posts. I typically agree with her takes, and am finding myself liking her a lot.

Didn't know it was a contest but I do get a kick out of the one's who assume caricatures of the image they would like to be or wish they were. They gotta love being anonymous. The boring ones are the ones who just can't seem to argue a well thought out response on their own, and stick with the predictable 'pick an extreme' talking point.
I think a lot of people would rather be liked than shair their own ideas on politics.... One can't be nice and make political progress unless they're pandering. I suppose a better question to ask is NOT who is liked but what this country has going for her that is positive.. Of course that is subjective. I see nothing - I see the death of classical liberalism, of course others adore the nanny state philosophy of "don't question authority." Sorry, I know what you're trying to get at but I'm being realistic, and in theory I could have phrased my idea in a more "likeable" way but I'm just an honest person. I don't believe in the idea of catching flies with honey.
My favourite posters are right-wing libertarians. My least favourite are so called "progressive" left-wing liberals.
I'm fairly right winged. I'm a social liberal but other than that, I'm pretty right leaning. HOWEVEERRRR, I wouldn't be here if I didn't want to debate with the opposite side of the spectrum. Debate is fun for me, and I learn things from posters of the opposite affiliation that I may not have wanted to know in the past. I'm still in my learning phase of politics, as I'm still under 30. Why do you assume no one likes you? I have had very little (if any) interaction with you on these pages, and I may not agree with all your opinions, but why would I not like you? You have never done me any harm. Don't be so hard on yourself.
Well let's see. Since I made that post, I've found out you really don't seem to like conservatives, are not a woman of faith, have been duking it out a bit with my buddy PD, and are a fan of saggy pants! I'm just messing with you. I still like ya!
I'm certainly no fan of saggy pants. I prefer a man in a suit. I find suits sexy. I just feel that it is important to keep government out of our lives as much as humanly possible, as far as imposing rules and regulations upon us. I didn't mess with your friend. I am simply arguing for my principals. Not to mention, he isn't MY friend.
