I've never owned one, and I hear from many Glock owners that they are the best handguns in existence - I'd like more info on them from any Glock owners here, thanks.

They are simple and they work.

They are popular for the same reason a Remington 870 is popular, or a Ruger 10/22. Inexpensive, they don;t break, and they work.

It is actually a machine pistol, not a handgun, because it is fully automatic. Pistol-like seize, Light weight, large magazine (can hold 30 bullets), extremely high rate of fire, ideally for close quarter combat spray and pray. Very inaccurate, but good precision with the high rate of fire and large magazine made up for it. It is very deadly at close range

    See it in action:

No, the machine pistol actually a specific Glock pistol. Glock produces semi-automatic pistols as well.

I'm assuming the Glock machine pistol would need a Class 3 Weapons permit and be extremely expensive.

The whole brand of pistols - I had assumed it was the brand in general that was highly regarded, not just a specific model. I'm not aware of all the different models.

Oh, ok. You were talking about the semi-automatic one more likely. Probably the G17 model and the like. Watch the review here:

Simply put, they're just rugged, dependable, and quality made handguns. I think the only other large caliber semi-auto I'd rather have is an H&K.

I've owned a Glock 21 for almost four years now, and Ive never had a single issue with it. It's light, durable, and you're going to nail anything within twenty feet, nine out of ten times. I'm not the best shot with a pistol, and I find it pretty easy to shoot and hit a target.

I guess they are ok, but I own a Bersa 9mm and have never had a misfire or jam with it. It has all the levers on both sides so you can shoot it left or right handed and it breaks down as easily as a Glock, but much cheaper. It is also the
main carry weapon of the Argentinian police and comes with a life time warranty

I prefer Sig Sauer handguns...but Glocks are also excellent weapons. The H & K USP is also TREMENDOUS.

I had a buddy with an HK7 ( the "squeeze-cocker"), which was a great pointer, but he had some issues with the grip/squeeze cocking mechanism, unfortunately...

Powerful, accurate, great range, but not all that concealable. It's like a small CARBINE!!

I've fired numerous Glocks and to date I haven't found one I really like. They aren't bad pistols, but I prefer a good old fashioned 1911. I also have a Springfield xDM in 9mm that I really like, so it isn't an irrational hatred of polymer guns. My advice is find a range with a bunch of different guns to rent or find someone with a lot of different guns who will take you shooting. Find a gun that you enjoy shooting and that you can shoot well.

Glock pioneered the concept of using high strength polymers fused to steel to make a hand gun lighter and less expensive. Many enthusiasts ridiculed these designs as "plastic guns" but this and other design concepts soon became mainstream and adopted by much older companies. I'm not sure, but I think they also developed the trigger mounted safety. I've owned a Glock for years but some of these other companies, notably S&W, make examples that might be even better than the Glock.

The Glock Model 22 .40 caliber semiautomatic is the weapon of choice for the California Highway Patrol. It's accurate, reasonably priced, and indestructible. It's also my handgun. I'm very happy with it.

They are identical except for caliber. The 27 is .40S&W and has more stopping power. These are both "two fingered" pistols in that the handle is shortened so that your pinky finger has no place to rest. You can get a magazine extension for it but that defeats the purpose of the small package, meant for concealed carry.

Those look badass, I'd love to try one out. I've had the good fortune of getting to play around with an mp5 though, and a good time was had.

Not sure which model you're talking about, but I had a Sigma and it was a junker. Inaccurate, jammed up all the time, felt/looked cheap and flimsy.

Yeah, I was just wondering about the recoil. I think 9mm has plenty of stopping power, less recoil, plus there's more capacity in the chamber.

I believe they got super popular because Glock made some clever business decisions during the 90's and he convinced a lot of police forces to switch to his brand.
