    A aircraft carrier is part of a battle group . the one weakness a carrier has is it's vulnerable to a submarine attack , that's why the battle group always has at least 4 submarines in attendance , to hunt down enemy subs & protect the battle group .

    I don't think Israel or anyone else wants any part of that .

    I am no apologist for Israel- but once again Speeder shows the intellectual analytical skills that leads him to claim that Black and Am. Indians are stupider than Europeans because they didn't invent writing.

    There is a lot that I object to that Israel does, but to claim it is the terror and torture capital of the world is either incredibly stupid due to bigotry or it is ignorance from getting all of ones knowledge only from certain internet blogs and websites.

    Maybe someone with some military background can check in here...

    I know Obama is commander and chief, but I have a hard time believing he is dictating to US Admirals what specific ships they use from thier fleets.

    He probably gave the order to return to the gulf, but just doubt he is telling Admirals what equipment to use... Any input from someone knowledgable?

    Trust me, that carrier would not have an Iranian Naval ship of any size anywhere near it. The cruisers and destroyers that escort the carrier will detect anything within 100 miles of the CBG. I served on a CG for a few years, they are a floating weapons system of death.

    American carriers are vulnerable to attack subs and missile barrages if they sail into harm's way. That's why the navy is pursuing the X-47 program.
