No greater love has any mannthan he lay down his life for his friends. Such people should be recognized whatever cause they fight for. There were Confederate heros, there were lots of German heros on both ww1 and ww2. There were South vietnamese heros, north vietnamese heros there were probably even some french heros. You don't have to like it but it's true.
I'll tell you one thing, heros don't blow up or burn down ROTC buildings on campuses.

American patriots abhor the idea of idea of infringement on other people's constitutional rights.
They ask what they can do for their country not what the country can do for them.
Yup i have some outrage, it stems from the fact that so many want bad things for their fellow americans.

Our govt stinks. Corporations pay off our stinking govt. Billionaires try to tell us how good we have it. The govt.wages war on its people and continuously spies upon us and violates our rights. But we need to worry about our patriotism...(deadpan)

Fantastic post and I could not agree more. We hold our father's sins but we do not have to be shackled by them. Humans are amazing creatures with limits we can barely comprehend now.

 

Only on the coast. WA east of the cascades (the bulk of the state) is more like Idaho and Montana. We avoid Seattle like the plague.

Most of WA state is in a cold rebellion right now as a result of some new gun laws passed largely by Seattles massive dense prog population. More than half of the states other county sherriffs are refusing to enforce the new laws within their jurisdictions.

 

And we have a President that spews hate towards other Americans on twitter like a 13 year old girl. He denigrates other Americans on the global stage for the mere fact that he sees them as adversaries. That is about as unpatriotic as it gets. Forget burning flags, he is flaming Americans, many of whom are/were in the military and work for the gov't.

A love for one's country is paramount, but the reason for loving it varies. You don't have to agree with the reasoning as long as you have a feeling of belonging in America.

As you know or will some become aware of, I am a very liberal person. I also think the gun laws I have seen being presented or passed are arbitrary and are only politicians scoring points to their base. Assault weapon bans are almost 100% cosmetic. I am embarrassed at some of my fellow liberal's utter lack of knowledge about guns.

I grew up with a gun leaning in most every corner. Not loaded, mind you. As soon as I was around 10 I could take a rifle and walk the 30 acres we lived on. I never killed an animal out of season and never had an accident.

I like the fact that the Sheriff chooses to not enforce it. If there is no trouble being made the FEDs will stand down.

 

Ya, I don't get it. They think Trump is an authoritarian, and if the pre-election campaign propaganda had any merit, he'll be tossing leftists into concentration camps any day now. But they wont buy guns to defend themselves. Only cops and military (the tools an authoritarian regime would use to oppress them) 'should be armed'...

 

No he's afraid to bully citizens at large but has no problems doing it to women and children from foreign nations.

 

Are you suggesting that Americans wanting their tax dollars to benefit other Americans instead of the entire worlds poor is 'bullying'?

 

That isn't a good representation of the left. Most of us don't think crazy CTs. Most of us just don't like his policies and many are turned off by his smarmy car salesman vibe. I also believe that doing what is best for this country as a whole is far removed from his brain. Mind you I realize no President has been altruistic. They are only human. I will say I like the economy now. The trouble is we will pay for it soon, as the windfall from tax cuts will give way to debt and the realization that economic growth has not lived up to the level that we were told it would to pay for the void.

And where are the conservative deficit hawks now? There are no tea party get togethers anymore.

 

He has no moral compass. His reaction to being accused of sexual assault was "She isn't my type".

A normal person would automatically say I would never take advantage of a woman in that way. He basically said, "I wouldn't rape her because I don't find her attractive".
